Black Corn Snake

I have a friend who paid quite a bit of money for a "black" corn snake for her husband. I haven't seen it but she describes it as solid black. Is there such a thing or did she just spend a lot of money on a black rat snake?

No such thing as a solid black cornsnake, at least not yet. Probably a rat or some sort or a hybrid.

Not many black snakes but I have one and it´s a mexican Black Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula nigrita)

There's also the black milksnakes, but there are no solid black corn snakes.

I would put money on it being a black rat snake. If so, they really got taken. Like other folks have said, there are no black corn snakes.

A black corn with red eyes would look really cool! I don't think that is possible though.

The most common black snakes are Mexican Black Kingsnakes, Black Milksnakes, and Black rat snakes.

There are absolutely no black corn snakes.

Anerythristic Corn snakes are sometimes referred to as "Black" Corns. However they are not solid black. I'd agree with everyone else and say they got taken. :awcrap:

Sorry about the pic. I've never seen the snake just heard her talking about paying 150 for a solid black corn snake that her husband thought was so cool. They have another corn snake and don't seem to notice that they don't look the same conformation wise so I'm guessing its a rat snake. Ill see if I can talk her into a pic. I'm not going to break the news about the snake though. Its just their pet.

Black rats aren't black on the bottom, though. If it's truly solid black, makes me wonder about a black milk snake.
