I see. Well we might just sell off the baby normal since there's risks involved, just like anything else in life. But if my snow corn is a female after all, when she's an adult, is it truly possible for cohab? Like, with a new female that I will keep separate for a while and learn more about her?
 
I don't think it sounds like you have enough room to set up a big viv for cohabbing, to be honest. The ones I've seen (I'm a brit, and cohabbing in vivs is quite common here) have been massive, literally the size of a wardrobe (closet?) with branches or multiple levels and complicated heating and lighting systems. They lok amazing, but besides the space they take up and the money they cost I couldn't personally face taking something that complicated apart for thorough cleaning!
 
It's always "possible" to cohab. But NEVER to eliminate the risks.

They are ultimately your snakes, you can do whatever you wish with them. We are only offering advice based on experience.

There is no possible way to fully account for all the risks of cohabbing.

I have 40+ snakes and I live in a one bedroom apartment. Everything is in rack systems and few display tanks. All of the snakes have plenty of room and I have plenty of room to live. I'll happily post pictures of what you can do with limited space and still make it awesome.

Yeah I don't have much for room, let alone a big viv. I only have enough for a 20 gal. long and 10 gal. tank, which is why we have to sell the baby normal off. My dad is being a pain about getting a small container for her, even though he doesn't know anything about corns in general.

Yes I know the other risks now besides starvation and cannibalism. I just wish I could keep them both. Pretty attached to them actually.
Now THAT sounds like some heavy spacing, but pictures would be great! It would be useful for my own apartment once I move out in the later years.

In that case, you will be doing the right thing in selling the normal and enjoying looking after your snow for the time being.

In California, not many people would care for a snake like most do with any other animal. My main fear is abuse when I sell her. I do hope a snake breeder would take her in and raise her better than I am. Maybe a breeding partner later on in life, just someone who actually has a heart.
 
If you get a shelving system like this: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-25e...53&langId=-1&keyword=wire shelf&storeId=10051, then 2 tanks would virtually take up the same amount of floor space as one tank, as they would be right on top of eachother (I actually have a 4 tier one holding 3 tanks, as well as tubs of other snakes on top). It's also easy to run a heat pad to each one and plug them both into the same thermostat. I do believe the shelf unit will fit up to a 20 long tank. Could this be a feasible option? Since cornsnakes are generally relatively easy to care for, caring for 2 tanks and snakes takes barely much longer than caring for 1 tank.

Not really. the spot I have forr the tanks, my dresser, wouldn't be able to hold one of those still, nor would I be able to reach for the tanks. But thank you for this thought. I might use that for breeding projects I'll do in the near future!
 
You could also get a rack, it would only be a bit larger than a 20 gallon.. just taller and a little wider. I think that if you do sell her, you can always arm the people with all the info they'd need before they take her, and you can request pics of the set up, etc before selling.

With a little bit of ingenuity, I bet you could make a nice rack for your snakes! All you would need is some good plywood or melamine and make a little shelf that sits right on top of your dresser. That way, you can run the heat pads under the tubs, and put everything else that is on your dresser on top of the rack.

My dad has the idea to sell her back to the pet store we bought her from. If they don't take her back, I surely will make certain she will get a great home. No doubt!

Sadly heat pads are pretty expensive, like $20 for a small one here. Even though we have heat lamps, my dad refuses to use heat pads, REGARDLESS of what I say. I'm trying my best just to keep them alive!!!!!
 
If I can buy an inexpensive shelving unit just for the baby normal, is there any other way than the heat pad and rock that I could possibly use for warmth?

Well two questions, the second one being, do you have a job?
If not, why not ask if you can do work around the house so that you can get the materials for the small rack system and heat pads? I know that used to work for me when I was in high school and didn't have a steady job... Not only does it show your dad that you are serious about your pets, but it also shows maturity as well as responsibility.
 
Every once in a while if you stare at the moon while you whistle you can hear the coyotes howling back. It used to not bother me because that's just nature man. Now that I have a freezer full of steaks I need to buy some more A1 sauce.

17, and I have no job. I can't get one anyway! I tried for several months, filling in countless applications, and yet there's no acceptance. California is dubbed in jobs, to be honest. Or at least Lancaster is. I still am, don't make me out as a lazy person. I think that more opportunities lie elsewhere if college won't get me much. And believe me, I'm dying to work for scrap money.

I understand, the job market sucks, my wife has been looking for a job for over a year now.
