Morning Surprise

Becca

Eternally Confused
My first clutch of eggs for this season started pipping yesterday (finally!) and I didn't expect anything spectacular to pop out, so I left them to stew. The mother is my Lavender girl, Dayonara and the father is my Ghost Motley boy, Eros. I was really only shooting for some possible het for Motleys, since the parents both had unknown hets, so imagine my surprise when I got up this morning to check on them and this little cutie was staring up at me.

So I guess I can say that my Lavender girl is definitely het for Motley, right? I am thinking this little one is an Anery Motley....which would also make momma het for Anery too, correct? The other one out of egg at present is a normal...which would be 100% het for Motley, correct? Sorry for all the questions, trying to figure out this whole genetics thing. lol! Thanks in advance to anyone supplying input!

Looks like an anery to me, and if the belly is bare with no checkers, motley too!!
And yes, your normal baby is het for motley too.
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!

Nice little anery motley you have there! Your lavender girl is now proven het for anery and motley. And as the father is a ghost mot, *all* the babies will be at least het for lavender, hypo, anery, and motley. Very nice hets indeed! That little guy there is also het for hypo lavender.

 I had no idea they would all be het for all of those things. I was just worried about the Motley. I can't believe the luck of just this random pairing. Thank you so much for your input, it has helped immensely. I do believe I'll be holding a pair of these guys back to make some Hypo Lavender Motleys in a few years. :D

I totally remember that feeling last year I bred my Hypo female to our hypo motley male and I was so hoping she would be het for motley and I remember doing a happy dance when the first one out was a motley. They were such pretty babies and such a fun experience. Congratulations!

So cute, congrats on the clutch.

Thank you! :) It was a really nice surprise to get up to.

WHat a beauty!!

Aww, thanks Nanci! I appreciate the compliment. :)

:D Thank you! Yeah, I think the first words out of my mouth yesterday morning was: Oh my freakin' goodness! lol! My hubby thought I'd gone crazy for a minute.

Congrats on the adorable pippy and the het!

Thank you so much. :) I appreciate the compliment.

So here's a little update. 6 of the 9 eggs have hatched, the final three are pipped but taking their time emerging. The three in egg appear to be normals, though I'll hold out until they're completely free before making the final say. If they are normals, then the final count is 1 Anery Motley, 1 Normal Motley and 7 Normals. I will try to get some pictures at some point today, for now I'm letting them relax and get used to life outside the egg. ;) Thanks so much for your input, everyone, it is greatly appreciated!

Baby pics!

Thanks so much, Diamondlil.

Here are some pics of the hatchlings that are out of egg and settled in now. Apparently I'm a dunce and can't count, because there were eight eggs, not nine. I'm still waiting on the three to make their way out of shell, but here are the five now out.

SO CUTE!!! I love Anerys!!

Same here. One of my favorite morphs. :) The added Motley just makes him look that much more cute, IMO.

very cute clutch! I love the motleys! congrats

Thank you! :) I feel lucky to have proved out my Lavender girl to be het, especially when I wasn't even shooting for it. lol!

That snake looks soo cool!

Aww, thanks! :) I really do have to agree. I'll try to post more pics after the first shed.

Anery motely het lavender and hypo? That's awesome!!! I would totally keep a pair of babies for even more variety in the babies they could make in 3 more years! Thats awesome!

I remember my first clutch, the mom was normal and dad an amel, and the breeding was a complete accident when i got the female from a breeder. O.O And the babies I got out of the clutch were amels, hypos, stripes, and a single amel stripe among normals. Not too bad, and it goes to show you never know what can hatch from the eggs!! :))
