Old enough to know better
My first ones are for my cousin Chris who died 11 years after a skiing accident left him in a shell of a body that needed to release him. His nickname was "Redman" so I got the Japanese Kanji symbol for "man" done in red ink, therefore I got a "Redman"!

The next one I got was for my college roommate who died from bile duct cancer, her Kanji is for "beautiful spirit", because she was.

All right, only 5 pics per post allowed.

These arm tattoos were for, in order, blue hibiscus because Jim and I got married in the Virgin Islands and they were everywhere. The Kanji means "true love", you NEVER get a name tattooed on you! The lotus flowers is with Kanji meaning "treasured loved ones".

My other arm is for my parents and sister, which is what the Kanji means, "little sister" and "parents".

Now, share all of yours!

I have no tattoos. A handful of ideas and designs, but not enough money for any of them. So I'll just list what I wish I could get.

1. 0xc0ffee with a coffee molecule above it - Standard hexadecimal computer engineering/programmer geekiness... That just happens to spell Coffee, which I drink like water. Literally, 5-15 pots a day, it's the only liquid I drink.

2. A barcode on my neck - More specifically an old barcode from one of those .25 packs of gum. That way I can literally say I'm a "two bit whore".

3. An armband/half sleeve of binary - Sadly I never could figure out what I wanted it to say, so it never happened. I just always figured a half sleeve of 1s and 0s could only be awesome.

4. And lastly, one that came to me in a dream. Partially inspired by and based on George Clooney's tattoo in From Dusk Till Dawn. It was going to be an Asian dragon that started on my pec/shoulder and spiraled along with the smoke from it's nostrils down around my arm all the way to my wrist/hand. The smoke and dragon are symbolic of my opium smoking days, a habit commonly referred to as "chasing the dragon".

I think that's about all the major ones I really want/wish I could get.

Awesome Tats smigon.

Well this is bad smigon. I love tattoos on a girl and I have a foot thing, so combine the two and that makes trouble TMI? Oh well. LOL

I really cant show all of mine as I have way too many but here's is a very special one. This one I am most proud of.

I think it speaks for itself but why is this one really this special?
When I was diagnosed with Stage T4 Esophageal Cancer I was told that I had less that 15% chance to survive, well 3 years later, I have had my Esophagus and Stomach removed but I'm here and I'm clean !!!!

The positive side, with my new and improved insides came a new leaner me, I love my new slim body. LOL

I'm too scared of needles to get a tattoo, though I want a wolf paw print on my back. The print would be from one of the first wolves I made a connection with here at work.

I just got my first tattoo this past summer. I'm already thinking about a second.

I can't go into too much detail but basically life has been tough and I feel I have earned my wings so to speak. I'm also a dragon ;) I did the design myself. I wanted something simple and all black.

very nice HVani

I just have a simple sun/moon black design on the back of my neck. But I'm not coordinated enough to get a good photo of it haha. It's merely part of my love for astronomy. I'm not sure if I want another tattoo or not, my main problem being I can't think of anything I'd want. I know people who have tattoos of molecule configurations, of molecules they've extensively worked with in lab, to get their phd and such. I think that would make an awesome tattoo.

I love tattoos. These are some of my favorite designs. Not that I would use any of them. I prefer to make my own.

Frogman, congrats on your cancer clean bill of health! That's awesome! I may let you touch my snowflakes sometime... what have you got to trade? ;-)

Hvani, nice wings. Clean and simple, perfect.

My dream tattoo (although I am running out of viable real estate that they can be shown on) is a bare tree dome by Corey Miller of 6 Feet Under in Upton, CA. I want a mockingbird in the tree and the words

"It is a sin to kill a Mockingbird"
-Atticus Finch

under it. Favorite book and movie of all time.

I don't have much room for anything else either but I would love to do something with snakes on my left shoulder/back area. My step son owns a Tattoo Shop in Ohio, might be time to go visit him.

I'm very familiar with that surgery- I'm an x-ray tech, supervisor of fluoroscopy, so expert in imaging the digestive and urogenital systems. Glad you're still here with us!

Well thank you, I love Nurses and Techs, I have a story for you that I will PM you.

Is he good?? I want a tattoo. I know almost exactly what I want. I saw it in the other tattoo thread- krene's snake/flower tatt on her ankle/foot, only with Gartersnake. She actually e-mailed me the drawing and permission to use it. My problem is money! I almost thought I could afford it last payday, after working 40 days straight, but then had some unexpected vet expenses...

I live in Gainesville, but visit in Ohio all the time, so I was looking at shops up here, too. The artist HAS TO be able to do perfectly realistic, though.

But- it has to wait, again...
