My right to bear arms is under fire right now.

Probably the same way that voting democrat or republican has worked out for any facet of USA life: Not so well.
^^^ this ^^^

I traded for a CZ 75 a couple of months back. I'll have to take some photos and post it.
Please do Chip. I bought a CZ75 back in the 80s during the import ban. I was in Germany in the USAF and was, as the owner, allowed to bring it back into the country. Kind of ironic in that they were on an import ban list based on the fact it was from the communist Czechoslovakia(don’t remember details of the ban) but I bought it at a USAF Rod & Gun Club on base in Germany.

I no longer have it but wish I had kept it.

CCW saves the day, apparently

But the perp's family isn't all that pleased about it....

Wow- that's crazy. So the family thinks the guy should have just left, leaving their family member holding his gun to someone's head.

Maybe that family felt that this was a legitimate way for the guy to try to make a living without any interference.....

Twenty years ago, President Clinton signed the Brady Bill into law.

That law said that if you want to purchase a firearm from a federally licensed dealer in this country, you have to get a background check first. It was a historic piece of legislation -- one that's kept 1.5 million of the wrong people from getting their hands on a firearm in the last 14 years.

But in the wake of the tragedy in Newtown -- a year ago this month -- we know we've got to keep working to build on that progress.

And so even after a minority of Senators blocked commonsense legislation to reduce gun violence this spring, we're pushing forward.

President Obama laid out 23 executive actions to make sure the Administration took essential and rapid steps to save lives while respecting our Second Amendment rights. And since January, we've completed or made significant progress on all of them.

President Obama is keeping his word to make sure our families and communities are safe. See the progress we've made.

Those 23 executive actions are keeping guns out of dangerous hands. They're providing support for communities to hire school resource officers. And they're reducing the stigma around mental illness.

Now, it's not enough to take these steps on our own -- we still need Congress to pass comprehensive legislation to reduce gun violence. We need expanded background checks, and we need to create serious penalties for gun trafficking. There is no question that these kinds of measures would protect our kids and keep our communities safer.

No parent should ever face the horror of the scene at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Or a movie theater in Aurora. Or a temple in Oak Creek. Or the campus at Virginia Tech.

We've seen too much gun violence as a country. And if there's even one thing we can do to save a life, it is our most sacred duty to try.

That's where I stand. And you have my word that the President and I are doing everything we can to make sure no parent loses their child to gun violence.

Take a look at the progress we've made:

I am ok with serious penalties for gun trafficking. Let's start with Mr Obama and Mr Holder (fast and furious). Their gun trafficking directly caused the loss of life including American lives. Prison time seems reasonable. :shrugs:

Oh, I totally agree with that. It will never happen though, those two are "untouchable" when it comes to the laws that they break.

Well - now I am seriously confused. Who is this "Holder" guy? Was he like what Hollywood calls a grip? IDK- TOTALLY lost here. I don't remember whether I saw the 5th rerun of the first one or the 1st rerun of the fifth one- but I remember seeing some 1/2 black dude- was that Obama? I thought his name was "Vent Diesel" or something- which I thought was a nice way to say "fart"......

See- this is why I don't watch movies anymore! !!

When in doubt- assume not! I only ever had one serious bone in my body and I don't think it works anymore. ...

I didn't click the link. I don't watch a lot of news. But just to be clear- my understanding of this situation is that the US Gov.had a whole bunch of seized illegal weapons and decided that they would trade them for illegal drugs to take down some drug cartels south of the border. The drug cartels took the guns and said " Gracias - stupid f'ing gringos!

Did I miss something? Curious minds want to know........

Close. I think they actually enticed straw purchases from border dealers in hopes of catching cartels and failed to track them.

The last sentence rings pretty true though. lol

They actually did that to one of the local gun stores out here. Then tagged them for selling across the border. It was a very shady thing. Honestly it didn't really surprise me about that store, though I don't understand how someone is supposed to know that the guns they are selling are bound for Mexico... The buyer can always lie to you, and as long as they pass the background checks, you can sell to them...

To be honest though, I haven't really looked too much into that store. I got a bad vibe from one of the people who worked there the one and only time I went to their Deming location.

Big victory for Florida gun owners!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The 1st District Court of Appeal ruled Tuesday that the University of North Florida and other state cannot regulate guns on its campus.

The ruling from the panel of 15 members, means that students have the right to have a concealed weapon locked securely in their cars at UNF, as long as they have the proper permits. The ruling was 12-3 for striking down the policy at UNF that prohibited firearms from being stowed in cars.

UNF's "no guns" policy was challenged in 2011 by the gun rights group Florida Carry. They filed a suit against the school stating school districts can set gun policy, but that UNF is not a school district, and Florida law gives college students the right to keep guns "securely encased" in their cars.

In their conclusion they state: "UNF policies and regulations, to the extent it prohibits possession of securely encased firearms in motor vehicles, is illegal and unenforceable."

They also, in November, easily defeated an attempt to repeal the "Stand your ground" law. This is a decent state for gun owners.

Yep- Texas isn't too bad either. ...And we usually have really nice weather also... Makes you wonder how the poor folk live.......
