So Red is only 190 grams at this point, but she is thick and long, very muscular. She is I am guessing 2 years old at this point maybe 2.5 she was a little thin when I got her.. but I can almost bet money that she will be a huge female when she's done in a couple of years.. I have a hard time beliving the scale because of the size she is..

How big are your females? Im guessing Red will be one of those 400 500 grams adult fat butts :D

My female snow was around 650g when she passed. She was only 3.5 feet long and a bit of a chunky monkey despite only eating once every other week.

My biggest female is Stormy, and I feel she might be a little on the heavy side for her frame but not bad. I've been trying to get her a little bit less. She's around 700 to 800 grams and I'd like to keep her around 700-750 grams. My other adult females are a little younger or have a different body shape and are around 420-500 grams. One of them, Fiona, I think is going to be more up there with Stormy in a year or two but Rhiannon has a completely different body shape and I think that she will always be long and slender. I'm thinking she probably won't get too much over 500 grams ever.

I don't know the answer but my Rigby is bigger than Marceline even though they're the same age and Rigby even goes off his food for weeks in the springtime.

Seems like my females are the same size as the males or slightly heavier in general. The females mostly seem to be slightly shorter and stockier where the males tend to be longer and slimmer but that's not the same with all of them. Also seems like the males grow a little faster than the females, in general but not always.

lol Smigon!! <3

I have to say guys I hope Red turns into big butt, I like em like that!! as long as she isn't fat.. she looks heavier than she is though.

Ok next challenge post your big butts here!

Are females typically a lot heavier than males?

I don't find that one gender is larger, though males tend to get fat more easily. In my experience, the biggest determining factor for adult size is the size of the parents. I've had babies grow quickly and be huge for their age then nearly cease growing at about 40 inches, and I've had some slow growers just keep on growing and eventually pass them. I'd say genes hold most of their potential for size, and ample (but not too much) food being the key to maximizing the potential they might have. In boas, large prey items will make the animals larger, this does not seem to work in colubrids, however.

Wow, I hadn't weighed Stormy in awhile, she's up to 947 grams today! She's been gaining a lot of weight the last few months and I'd been thinking part of that is maybe her ovulating. Took some pictures today, trying to get some with decent size perspective. She is deep in shed at the moment.
