I also fed Sixx 2 pinkies for a while because the pet shop I get my feeders from doesn't do "peach fuzzies"...and I am now feeding him a fuzzie and a pinkie because they don't have hoppers either. You should be fine but keep an eye on it.

Yeah will do. She's still doing good. I'm not gonna feed her doubles on a regular basis, i'm got stagger them. Next feeding will be 1 pink, and the next will be 2. Till i can get a shipment of fuzzies. My local pet shop doesn't carry them either.

It is that's why i went in the middle of the two recommendations i got. not every 3 days, and not every 6-7 but every 4-5 days. Once i get on fuzzies it'll be every 5-6 and then when i'm on hoppers it'll be once a week feedings, which means i'll have more time for me and my snake. Instead of always waiting 48 hours to handle her.

The important thing to remember is that above all, you do not want a regurge. (Didn't you have one already?) Four days is very close together- plus it leaves you very little time to ennjoy your snake. If I remember correctly, and your snake did regurge once, I wouldn't handle him till 72 hours after feeding, either. The fastest growth possible is not of benefit to the snake.

I always wait a bit after feeding too, before handling. At least 24 hours. but, I also don't like the idea of going too long w/o handling him. sometimes he seems so calm in my hand, sometimes he's a spaz. It sounds like you've got a good plan laid out. I feed every 5 days, as long as he has pooped. Still on 1 pinkie (around 3+ grams each) and my snake is currently right at 13 grams. I'm going to give two more feedings of 1 pinkie, and then in 15 days, start him on two.

Nanci are you talking to me or someone else? My snake has never regurged. I 've only been feeding it 2g pinkies till the last feeding and i've only fed her about 5 times.

Sounds good! Keep us posted on how that works for you

Since this thread is partially about tracking snakes and their activities, etc, I thought I would share with everyone how I am tracking my snake. Right now, I keep tabs on his feed schedule (weight of food), his weight, when he poops, and when he sheds. I am using a free graph tool made by amcharts. Yep, free! Course, they want to buy it, but the free one is fully customizable!

Here is a link to the graph, showing all the entries so far:

Here's the settings file, which determines how the graph looks:

Thanks TripleDuck, i'm amazed at your tracking results because i'm feeding my snake every 4 days, which is more often than you feed yours, and your getting weight gains, where i am not. I just don't get it! I'm feeding 2g pinkies every 4 days and after 5 feedings she went from 8g-10g. The last feeding as you know was a total of 4g, so we will see if she gains at least a gram. Thanks for the links though.

There's no hurry it's just i'm starting to worry when i get no weight gain at all over 5 feedings. Is this normal, because compared to TripleDucks results it seems as if there might be something wrong with my snake. If it's normal than ill stop worrying about weight.

It does seem odd that over the period of 20 days, she only gained 2 grams. May be because Vosim is male? I have read that males get a little bigger than females, but I would expect your feeding schedule would give more results.

Perhaps there is something wrong with your scale? Or maybe mine! (= I bought an Acculab EC-411, which has a range of +/- 200 grams, and registers .1 gram changes. I weigh Vosim by putting his feeding tub on it, then zeroing out the scale, and then put him into the feeding tub.

What are you using to weight the food and the snake?

I'm using an expensive scale that my mother bought for her diet, which she's not using anymore, lol. But i either weight the snake like you do, or i double check my putting her directly on top of the scale. The pinkies i buy are in a package that say they are 2g and when i check them on the scale it's 2g on the dot. So i don't think it's my scale. But i agree with what you said. I'd expect my feeding schedule would give more results. My snake is a female so that could be a theory. But i'm starting to honestly worry that maybe something's wrong? Is it possible she could have a stomach worm? I mean she's eating fine, and never refuses, and doesn't regurge. I'm lost for the reasoning.

I don't obsess on weights, my snakes don't get continually weighed, maybe each time they shed. I go by the condition, the look and feel of the snake. If I am starting to see a triangle shape I bump up the feeding, if I see a little roundness I cut back. I can certainly tell you some of them will grow faster than others and that's normal. So are growth "spurts" or periods of little noticeable growth. I think the genetics of a snake has a lot to do with this.
I personally can't do all the charts and constantly weighing everything because it would drive me crazy to have to keep track of that much data. I don't use any plan I use my eye and instinct but I guess I understand why some new snake owners do obsess about that stuff.

Well i will try to use the eye more in the future, but for a baby corn i wanted to use the munson plan because so many people have had success with it. I'm honestly trying not to obsess about it, but when i hear stories like oh my snake gaines 4g in 2 weeks after 2 feedings, oh course i'm gonna be like what! I've fed 4 times in 2 weeks and i got nothing! Thanks for the tips tough, i will look to see if i have the loaf of bread shape or not. I remember when i first got her it looked like a triangle shape that's why i didn't hesitate to feed every 4-5 days.

Try not to read too much into it. Your snake is eating just fine with no regurg, and she is gaining weight. Does your scale do 0.1 increments or 1.0 increments? perhaps if your scale does 1.0 increments, it is rounding the numbers, and she could have more growth than the numbers suggest.

I'm reading the the "Diseases and Disorders" section of the care book written by Kathy/Bill Love. They suggest looking at the feces (under a microscope) to see if it contains microorganisms or eggs or worm fragments.

I don't know how likely it is your snake contracted a parasite, but I would think there is a simpler explanation.

Yes my scale does do a 1.1g increment, and it's not rounding any weight.Baguette? haha lol thanks. Thanks for all your help both of u.

Yeah, I don't know why I thought yours regurged, I guess because there were several regurges all at the same time, and I mixed you up. My advice still stands.
