Sunkissed??

Is it just me, or do these two look different than your average Sunkisseds?? Seriously? These are the only two I've ever owned, and it seems like others I've seen are darker or "different". :shrugs:

Thanks for looking,

Lovely! And compared to mine and Jeff Linkchorst's Sunkissed males, they ARE dark!

The top one is not Sunkissed while the bottom is. I would like to place a wild guess that the top one is an Amelanistic corn. I'll confirm that with a breeders refrence before I forsure tell you the top one is an Amel. The bottom one however is a Sunkissed, no doubt.

Thanks for the input, but it's not a trick question. Trust me, they're both Sunkissed. (FYI, the "top one" has black eyes . . . show me a genetic Amel that has black eyes and I'll trade ya.)

Thanks for the compliments on their looks. I'm blown away every time I open their cage to check in on them, or clean, or feed . . . or just take another peek! :grin01:

Brent they are very nice. But i only have 1 to go by, and he is not your normal Sunkiss. the 2 one is showing signs similar to mine. My boy has alot of yellow that has crept into the saddles. The red is mostly gone on him.

Hi Brent,
PJ and I were discussing the same thing. The Sunkissed Motleys, that are clutch mates to yours, the female seems to be brighter then the male. I was almost positive that the parents are not het for Hypo. They were purchased as Classics het Anery, Sunkissed, Motley. They were originally bred by Chuck Pritzel and Connie Hurley. I guess with one of the original Grandparents to these babies was a Anery Motley there might be a good chance that Hypo IS in the mix. You never know. We got two more Sunkissed this year and one looks typical, for a Sunkissed, and the other has really thick borders. I had one baby this year that did not hatch in the clutch and we opened the egg to see, what I think was, another Sunkissed Motley. This one also seemed very light colored but that could have been because not all pigment was in place before it was supposed to pip. One thing that I have noticed on everyone of the Sunkissed based mutations in these clutches are the great high "white cheeks". The ones we got this year have it as well. I do see what your talking about with your two being very light colored. Tim got the other Sunkissed we produced last year and I will have to ask him if his leans towards the lighter/brighter side of the coloration scale.
Jay

P.S. It is too bad the first one you posted a picture of is an Amel...:grin01: :sidestep:

That amel looks like the ones I've seen.

And the sunkissed aren't too far off some of what I've had. It seems some of the outcrossed sunkissed tend to be a little lighter. I got an adult from Rich Z a couple years back that looked like them and one of my sunkissed from the het charcoal sunkissed project from last year is on the light side. In fact, this year I saw more light sunkissed than dark in many of my projects....but they are all 08's so they may darken. :shrugs:
