Another difficult snake to photograph well, Alamo will hopefully breed his first female for me in the spring. He almost had a chance at my charcoal het pewter female, but my Sunkissed won out. It took me awhile to realize what, besides being banded, was "different" about his looks...he has no yellow, and I'm not used to seeing that, especially in an amel!

That's an interesting look, do you know what his parents look like?
And your outside on the tree photography always fascinates me.
 
Alamo is one of my very favorites of your snakes! Probably THE favorite not counting a certain 2008 hatchling...
 
You know... I hope you don't mind, Susan... Since you're a mod, you can delete this if you want... but since it does concern Alamo, I thought it might be okay...?

With him not having any yellow... it brought to mind that there are kingsnake morphs that are labeled "axanthic", ie. "no yellow". I've never heard of a cornsnake (in my very limited experience) called "axanthic". Wouldn't he, therefore, be a possible project snake towards that end?

I just ran a search in the ACR and it seems that his father and other related amel banded motleys are also basically lacking yellow, so I guess it's a feature of the morph. Alamo was produced by Carol (Low Belly) from a pair she purchased from Don (South Mountain). Last I heard, Matthew (blueapplepaste) owns Alamo's father.

Is the lacking yellow a feature of the morph or the blood line? I remember seeing a pic of amel banded motley with yellow in it, but with my lousy memory I can't of course be sure...

Anyway I'd pair him up with a candy motley or miami motley! ;)
 
Indeed, amel with no orange is candy cane, right? (Except for the people who think candy canes should have a pedigree of line bred candy canes)
