Kiyoshi - Japanese (Kunisar Island) Rat snake

RobbiesCornField

Bring it on.
I love this big boy. He's such a sweetheart! If I can ever get a certain female up to size, he's the cornerstone for my pet hybrid project.

Thanks for looking!

He's so shiney!!! You know I've been eyeing Japanese rat snakes for awhile now and you are not helping my self restraint! He's beautiful, Robbie!!

LOL, he's Kiyoshi, does he know karate?
Kiyoshi= honorary or genuine title for 7th or 8th dan. (Usually used on 8th dan.)
I had a sensei who wouldn't answer to anything but Kiyoshi, even though in reality, he was only genuinely a 5th dan, and his "8th dan" title was honorary.

hmm.. I have seen these and have been offered het for albino but I like the normal morph on these.

Might be in the snake budget for 2010.

A buddy of mine has a pair of these things. Very interesting creatures. I might be getting a pair in the next year or two...we'll see...

VERY nice pictures, BTW!! Great shots!

Haha! He's actually named for the serial killer, Kiyoshi Okubo.

If anyone offers you het albinos again, come straight to me. I'll take a pair!

Wow he looks awsome! Reminds me of Godzilla lol

:roflmao: I have never seen that connection before!

GO FOR IT!!! This guy is one of the nicest, calmest, sweetest rat snakes I have EVER handled. He's only struck once due to a stupid mistake, but afterwards, he was very sorry (you really could see it in his eyes, believe it or not).
And thanks!

beautiful snake robbie

Thanks, David.

Interesting snake. Are they known for having a calm temperment?

I'm actually not quite sure on that. Any one I've ever seen has been rather placid and docile. Most people don't go for them because of their semi-drab coloration. Not that exciting to look at, and there's no designer morphs (an albino goes for about $300).

I personally like the drab colors on these guys. I keep a large variation of Rats here and always love the naturals.
But the greens and creamy white is outstanding.

If you like the creamy white, you should see him in blue! His whole belly is this blue-ish white, and so is his head. He's pretty no matter what. In blue, freshly shed, just the kind of snake I love! :D LOL
