Crazy Critter Lady
A friend of a friend has a sand boa and we read up that it should be fed mice. They don't want to go to a pet shop for feeders, they want to buy from me. The snake had eaten the day they got it, just a couple days ago. My mice will be having babies in the next 5 days give or take.

How much would YOU charge in person for pinks, fuzzy, hopper etc?

The guy says if they look good he'll tell his snake friends and come to me for feeders with the red tailed boa he's getting soon! Its young he thinks its on sm adult mice right now ?? I do not know much about those kinds of snakes.

What did you find out?? I was curious about this question too? I deal with a friend too but he buys some supplies for the critters, food ,sometimes bedding ect...

I only have mice right now. This is the price and sizing chart I figured out . The sizes I got from Rodentpro so that my size mice will be similar to what you get elsewhere.

Xsm Pinks 1.30-1.80 grams $0.10 each
sm pinks 1.90-2.40 grams $0.12 each
Lg Pinks 2.5-3 grams $0.15 each
Peach Fuzzies 3.10-4.40 grams $0.20 each
Fuzzies 4.5-7 grams $0.20 each
Hoppers 8-12 grams $0.25 each
Weanlings 13-19 grams $0.30 each
Adults 20-29 grams $0.35 each
L Adults 30-50 grams $0.40 each

I'm only dealing within my town for now. When I have 2 colonies going maybe three I will offer close to me deliveries. I am not going to offer any shipped.

I am only going so cheap because I will be using some of my own as well, and because I am in it more for the fun than the money.

Wish I lived near you! For the people that live near you, that's a really good price! I pay somewhere around $1 give or take for pinky mice at Petco.

It is a good price. My local pet shop wants $0.75 a pinky. $2.00 an adult with nothing in between.

I get a bag of like 30 pinks from shows for $9.00 so I would charge a fee by volume and not a single mouse to make it easier on you.

I am thinking of doing shares. You pay one fee and get X amount each month with different types of shares with different sizes/numbers. You get them each month :) Still working on the details though.

Got thinking about it, & I paid $4.49 for 3 pinks & $5.18 for 3 fuzzies at Petco the other day. But the fuzzies are really big.

I sell ASFs locally to a couple friends. .25 for pinks and fuzzies, .50 for hoppers, .75 for weanlings and 1.00 for adults. I'm not in it for the money either. I just love keeping them and my snakes.

Once I get my vacuum sealer I will offer bags of quantity. I just haven't worked that part out yet as I don't have it yet. For now I am going to be using jewelers bags to individually package them and can put the quantities ordered in a larger zip lock baggie. I'm just trying to make sure that people with only one snake does not have to buy a bag of 50 and end up having to toss some. So while I will in the future offer quantities I will still offer singles too.

Geeze! Was that mouse or rat babies? And I though we were getting ripped off :eek1: (not intended as an insult or to upset anyone I know we have to do what we have to do to care for our pets)

I know! When I just had the one snake it wasn't bad, but with 3 I've been thinking of ordering from someplace like RodentPro. Now that I know you can sometimes get a bag of 30 for $9.00 at shows, I'll really have to go to the reptile show in Oct. in Utah.

You should check out your local shows they have all the sizes, you don't pay for shipping, and you can buy a bag at a time instead of having 100-500 mice in your freezer.

The prices sound good. But if you can't produce mass quantities you may want to charge a little more. I sell my pinkies for .20 ea. It's far less than the pet store yet it makes me a few cents for the gas and trouble I take to get them.

On a side note-Red Tail Boas really should be fed rats not mice. They need the extra fat and nutrients rats have for good healthy growth. Feeding them mice once in a while is fine, but the main diet should be rats.

The reason why RodentPro's prices are so low is because they require bulk purchases. In my opinion you're seriously underselling yourself if you're only selling them singly or less then a quantity of 50 per pack.

I like the concept Carn., Bulk for a certain fee, per month. If everyone you deal with is a friend there should be no issues. Maybe a Bulk pending on how many snakes, and feeding schedule, might even be better. Just a thought....
