2nd hook-up for this season: A Start for a New Project! :)

FEMALE: Butter Motley (not known hets)
MALE: Ultramel Anery poss. het. Hypo

Because the Ultramel Anery male is so exceptionally yellow, and he's got more and more yellow with every shed, I got an idea to pursuit even more yellow outcome and throw in a Caramel gene and go for Ultramel Caramel Aneries - or Anery Golddusts - or Ultramel Xanthics as I'd prefer to say. In another words Ultramel (amel+ultra) + Anery + Caramel traits put together.

In this clutch I expect to get nothing else but these two morphs:
Amels het. Anery, Caramel, Motley
Ultramels het. Anery, Caramel, Motley

So with the F1 I can breed Caramel Aneries, Xanthic Snows (aka Caramel Snows) AND Ultramel Xantics in Motley pattern!!!

This is going to be interesting.

Sorry for the dirty water dish. I took it from a viv with peat as bedding, so the cup is a bit "peaty"...

See how yellow he is!? Looks as if the butter is reflecting the yellow on him, but no, he really is that yellow! He's even got yellow on his saddles which he didn't have before.

This one's showing the middle part of his body and as you can see: Pretty much yellow! Only the last third of his body is so-and-so yellow free. So far! He's been getting it more and more with every shed, so I'm just waiting to see how yellow will he eventually be!

I took some new pics of Aarre, the male. He's really squirmy and restless, so taking pics without a flash war really difficult!!! I managed to get a few decent ones though.

I just wanted all of you to see how YELLOW he is!

This is the only fairly sharp and focused pic I managed to get without a flash.

She's not that big. Approximately 400g. The male is rather small though. He's CB-06 but I got him last year directly from the breeder so he's been kept far from power feeding I think. I haven weighed him because he really is a handful anyway and wouldn't stay put in a cup for the one second while I check the reading.

Gee...Thousand thanks of posting the pics! I didn't know someone had already produced these, but on the other hand I'm not surprised: What wouldn't be produced already? Great to see I'm starting with such a stunning morph!

Oh and another thing: How on earth can I tell apart Ultramel Aneries and these Ultramel Caramel Aneries as hatchlings? At least that one looks pretty identical to ultramel anery hatchling. Do I need to wait two or three sheds to see the yellow coming throug or...?

Were you the first to produce these? So are you the one to name the morph or...? I just think the Ultracaramelaner doesn't describe the morph very well as the -mel from Ultramel is missing and otherwise IMO the word is too long...

I just cross my fingers and hope you won't be needing both your Ultracaramelaner Motleys and you'd send either one over to me. :santa:

My Ultramel Anery male has lots of colour as well, slightly more orangey than yours though.

I just noticed that in my original post of my original thread I said the female was a motley, actually if you look later in the thread I have picture of her, she is in fact a butter motley. So, the male was a gold dust motley and the female was a butter motley. All offspring from the pair must at the very least be caramel and motley, and either amel or ultramel. Seeing as both parents are het for aner, any baby that is aner, must either be a snow caramel motley or a ultracaramelaner motley.

I cannot wait to see my male in 6 months. I was just at a friends house, and saw his adult male ultramelaner motley, man that is one smoking snake.

I kept a pair of them, as well as a female snow caramel motley and a couple female gold dust motleys that are possible het for aner. KJ got a pair of snow caramel motleys and a female ultracaramelaner mot from me last year.
With the naming, I took a play off of KJ's name for the ultramelaner mots that he was the first to produce. I just added "cara" in the middle. And, really, do names need to be entirely descriptive? I can name quite a few that are not at all.

Next year (2010) should be the first year that I will really be producing many and have more of them available, I am already sold out this year.

I don't mean all names shoud be descriptive at all. It's just that what will the "true" ultra+caramel+anery called? Should the -mel then be left out and should the morph be called Ultracara...ner?

Hmmm...not bad now that I really think about it.

I'm just wondering this all in advance because when I do F1+F1 breeding and if they're both Ultramel het. Anery, Caramel, Motleys I might get "Ultracaraners". That's all.

Hmmmm, you may want to check your monitor settings (i.e., color balance) because those hatchlings are much to light to look like a regular anerythristic motleys. Of course, you'd expect an ultramel anerythristic motley too look similar to a ghost motley (is that what you meant?), and you obviously wouldn't expect the caramel to change tohe look of them BABIES any. If color changes DO occur due to them being homozygous for caramel, that wouldn't be expected until the get more size on them. If the "hidden" effect of the caramel mutation (as a heterozygous or homozygouse - but masked - condition) as taught us anything, it is that the effect seems to increase with age.

I will say that Mike's quad morphs there hatched out MUCH lighter than any of the lines of triple expressions (i.e., ultramel aneryththristic motley NOT caramels) i've hatched out, but he quickly darkened up a little bit to be more as expected within a week or two. They are still lighter than some I have produced (comparing same sex to same sex, of course), but not so much that I suspect the caramel has completely altered the look of these animals as neonates.

Like KJ said, Check your monitor settings. If, you think it still looks like a regular ol aner mot, post a pic of one. Or, wait about 6 more months and then see what mine looks like before making a judgment. :bowdown:
