I used to watch Jon Stewart, but he's hit or miss. I think he falls short of the mark when he tries to turn every little thing into a joke. Ya he can be funny, and he does a great job incorporating CNN news into something that everyday people can at least follow with interest, but I still think he can be a little bit too much. Just my opinion, though!.

I'll also note that the freedoms you hold dear are not necessarily the freedoms someone else holds dear.

Do you ever watch the news, or investigate just WHO it is making up these ridiculous legislations to try and ban our reptiles, or our guns? or for that matter, any and all freedom we might hold dear?

Go look up who just exactly started this whole HR 669 bill.......... Wasn't a republican i can assure you of that.......

First off, boo hoo smokers. Who cares about all of the childrens hospitals he's funding, when you can't light up anymore. I mean, if you want to smoke that's fine, but he's doing a lot for lesser priviledged people for you to just be complaining about cigarette taxes.
As for the reptiles, wait for a verdict before you start to rally. I'm sure with all of the other very important issues he's tackling, he hasn't even heard of HR669. Call him crazy, but he actually thinks things like healthcare, education, and national security are a bigger priority (oh, if he only knew how cool it was to have a python on your neck while you chain-smoke Winstons!).

Because chain-smoking winstons with a python draped around my neck is EXACTLY what i consider hip......
 
I can't speak about every reptile issue, but here is an excerpt of a post on KS from US ARK about HR669:

We also did drop in visits to subcommittee member offices to make our case. Support was split down party lines. The Republicans support us and the Democrats oppose us. The Democrat side can win with a straight party line vote. The good news is that since meeting with USARK the Ranking Republican Rep Harry Brown, SC contacted me and has made this bill a priority. He has given us precise instructions on how to most effectively contact the subcommittee. .."

For all I know it may have been a Democrat, but I wasn't the one claiming it was either/or, anyone can make unsubstantiated claims in a thread...here's one: "the Libertarians killed JFK, don't believe me? go look it up..." see no substance, no meat...no humor...nothing...

I felt like i didn't need to do a follow up, i think Kathy did a nice job in proving at least part of what i was saying right........ It was a democrat, and as far as i know has been EVERYTIME bills like this HR 669 have come about.

Is a piss contest judged on distance, duration, color, quality? Because we can't just selectively choose one, otherwise it becomes another political campaign.

Why am I reminded of the 4 C' of diamonds, carat, color, clarity, and I forget what the other one was?

I personally would go with quantity/ volume for selecting the victor of a pissing match.
