I am scared out of my wits right now....

I'm not supposed to call the vet back for another hour.
Keeper has not eaten in 2 weeks, but passes feces fine.
If she's not contagious and starts eating again I will be happy....

But surgery takes so much out of them...and I don't want her wasting away...or being contagious and endangering the others....

I don't know what's right....

It's my experience that the bulge can cause discomfort and lead them to go off of their feed. Snakiepants went through a period as well in the beginning where he did not eat. After we started treatment and the lump went down a little in size he resumed eating.
Good luck...thinking of you and Keeper.

I just got off the phone...
due to several emergencies they have not started the procedure yet, and Keeper needs to stay overnight again.

I just wish I knew what this is......

I'd be pretty perturbed at that vet. Keeper is an emergency to YOU! :(

I hope things go well. We'll be praying for you and keeper.

I'm trying not to get upset.
The vet has a tiny staff, and a tiny place, and is hugely popular.
And it's a madhouse everytime I go there.
While I was there yesterday someone rushed in with a puppy that was struggling to breathe. And there is only 1 vet...

As it is now they are about to close.
Keeper is the last case of the day.
The solution hasn't reached the mass yet, so there are more X-rays to go.

I'm supposed to call back in the morning.....

The vet wants to do more x-rays...and a needle biopsy....and keep her another night.

I'm supposed to call back at 2.....

(((Nanci)))

Did she say what happened with the barium?? I need to see the films!

So far I couldn't talk to the vet. She was always in the middle of another procedure. But appts are over for the day at 2, and that's why I'm supposed to call back then...

Hey, call this lady back and tell her there are a lot of people worried about this damn snake and we can’t wait until two o’clock. Ask her to digitize the films and put them on the internet so that your radiologist (Nanci) can take a look at them.

No more mister nice guy. We want answers!!

Beth I am so sorry this is happening to you. Neither you nor your snakes deserve this awful spell of bad luck. I'm thinking of you and your babies xxxx

Wade, you ROCK! :)

Thank you, EVERYONE!
At least she's not a dog or a cat that is suffering emotional trauma being away from me. They have her set up well, and she's warm. Plus if she IS contagious, she's not in my house....

I have watched this thread from the beginning. I have also seen some of the other threads you have made recently and my heart goes out to you. I am really sorry you are going through this. I really hope things improve for you and just know that you are in my families thoughts.

Good Luck,

Wayne

Thank you Wayne :)
That which doesn't kill us will only make us stronger......

Finally talked to the vet.....

X-rays revealed that the lump is not a foreign body, or part of the intestinal tract. It may be the liver. A needle biopsy was done, and all that came out of the lump was fluid that looks like blood.

Both a pathology on the liquid and the other test she wanted to run (can't remember what it is) are unaffordable to me.

Feces were tested, as well as what came out of the lump, both tested negative for crypto.

The next step is amoxicillian and something to keep her appetite up.
Then maybe another fecal.

I get to pick her up tomorrow morning.....

Hmmm. You'd think she could tell if it was her liver or not, like with an ultrasound. Well, at least you're not paying for bowel obstruction surgery...

Like the vet couldn't just look at it- it costs nothing. Costs the vet nothing. No resources, nothing. That makes me mad.
