I'm in a HORRIBLE mood, But i'm going to straighten myself out for this reply...

Robbie sorry to hear about your beloved snake, extremely sorry for your loss.

I wonder how much that costs...And I wonder if any reptile vet can do it, or if here you'd have to go to the university, the same place that called Isabel "the iguana" and didn't know blackbearding with an open mouth was a normal behaviour...

In my experience I have had two snakes die from unknown causes. Both were autopsied by my reptile vet. This was just a simple gross autopsy to get a general picture and to cut out their major organs. Their organs however were sent away to pathology labs. A gross autopsy costs far less than an extensive one in which organs are sent away for more investigation (ie brain, heart, lungs, liver and kidney). Both autopsies cost me around £110. But the information I gained from them is priceless, especially considering recent events in my collection.

When I had my boa autopsied a while back, it cost $80 at the vet college. Unfortunately, that's (Nanci, how far away is UF from me) more than a few hours away.

Janine, he was actually very far away from any of the new snakes brought in, so that's not concerning me too much at the moment.

Skye, he had already gone rigid and limp. He would have died on the way to the vet (and the only one I trust isn't open today). As far as the ice crystals goes, he was put in the fridge first for about 2 hours. The freezer came second.

R.I.P. Andy.
Robbie I am so sorry you lost him. He was one of the first ones you showed me when I visited.
