• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

It almost seems like the end of the (forum) world is coming!!

This is half joke, half serious. I don't think the end of the forum is coming, but i bet there will be a lot more bans to come. Here is the substance of my post. Proceed with caution!

It seems the Number of bans go up every day.. Spammers, and delinquents...

The Retarted Geese/ Raptor Jesus/ Rick whatever incident....
All of the well-meaning threads turned into brawls...
The spammers.. So, so many spammers...

Make your own conclusions, but I think there is something fishy... This has never happened before, at least as long as i've been here. It seems that this all started in late may-early june.... Like i said, make your own conclusions. Unless something that just HAS to be answered is posted, this will be my last post in this thread. have fun, and no fighting!

Um... dude... the only reason the number of bans is going up is because the people are BREAKING the rules or trolling.

The spammer numbers are going up because the site is becoming more popular, and has a lot of traffic. That attracts the attention of the spambots, because on a high traffic site, the spam is more likely to be seen, and possibly clicked.

It's not the end of the forum. It's a sign that it's becoming more popular.

I think that this is the normal ebb and flow of the boards... all boards. This sort of thing has happened in the past and it is still kickin.

Be good, post good, live good!

I didn't really think the end of the forum was coming... I was just saying how things have gone up, and using the end of the forum as an example of sorts. (of sorts)

Oh no, say it ain't so. The end is near. Woe is me. GBCW

Wade, you always know how to lighten up a thread

Nonsense posts increase greatly during school vacations - they're just bored kiddies with nothing else to do. You'll find it calms down over the next month, as the trolls head back to class and get their butts kicked over poor grades.

In reality, it's actually been fairly quiet this year. Rich had more "stuff" put in to help keep the spam bots from getting through, but a few still manage, and there hasn't been too many trouble makers worth banning. The number of reported posts is still about the same, making the deletion of a multitude of e-mails from my mailbox a daily ritual, but all in all, there has been much worse. I do expect to see more in the next few months when brumation season starts, especially the non-spam reported posts.

Eric, you say some very beautiful, poignant things, quite a lot of the time......
I'm glad you decided to join this little community.
Your a voice of reason in a mad mad world......
Nice one mate.

Not sure once my paid subscription is done I'll be here. I'm not enjoying it much anymore. People I considered friends have ended up back stabbing and those I thought of just acquaintances have truly had my back. This place has truly changed and I"m not sure it's for the better.

TBH...... Things have changed here over the last few months....
I use a lot of other forums, that are more species specific to my needs, and come here for the camaraderie......
I only have a few corns, so I don't get involved with cornsnake chat much,
but I have a lot of other things that don't really interest the folks on here....
Perhaps one day I will post an inventory of what we actually do keep....
I know that some of you may like what we have, but I won't hold my breath... LOL
Maybe a nice little holiday away from the site for a while will refresh you, Nanci.......
Or come over to the dark side and try a different species....... That may be a way forward for you....

Mike, if you weren't on the other side of the pond, I'd probably take you up on it. Or atleast ask for an invite to see your collection. As is I'm stuck here in the states and am limited to corns. And to be honest I truly do enjoy this site. I just need to stay away from threads started by certain people.
I also think it would be best if I just keep my friggin mouth shut and just read for awhile. Darn shame I can't comment on the nice snakes and critters I'll see. But then that would be hypocritical of me to comment on some threads and not others.....lol

Why?... I do it.... Some post I don't even open and others I look forward to....
I like this site and I like most of the people, I just bite my tongue with the ones I know will upset me.... Or keep away from their threads and ignore their posts.... Simples..
As for a new species..... Why are you limited to corns?....

I have chosen to limit myself to corns because of their ease of care. The only other snake I'd like to get ahold of right now would be a black milk. I'm not comfortable with snakes larger then that and since I'm petrified of mice and rats. I think I better stick with snakes I know my daughter will feed for me...lol

Carpet pythons are easier to keep than corns.... Well as easy... They only get slightly longer.... IJ's are about the same length actually.... They are arboreal so a lot more interesting AND great for display, and they eat mice or small rats......
A nice natural set up in the lounge 4X2X2 with a perch and you could be into a new obsession......

Gotta love your perfectly complex yet simple ways of describing things Eric!!! ;) So complicated yet uncomplicated at the same time, just like life and its perfect imperfections ;)

I feel sorta the same way, but I have found many friends on this forum that I thought were enemies. This forum is getting more popular so we will encounter more spam and trolls. A friend once told me that all forums end up going down hill. That may slowly be happening but we have good mods. A great bunch of dedicated members that know what they are talking about. We have people ranging from 13 to 65 years of age. Of all colors, nationalities, religions and walks of life. I think we have a pretty good damn forum here and I bet if we work hard we can keep it that way!

...but friction, although it is what eventually stops a pendulum from swinging, is what keeps our threads her so darn entertaining!
