Cali King With a One-Track Mind

Susan

Go Ahead, Make My Day!
Napoleon has one thing, and one thing only, forever on his mind...FOOD! It had been a long time since I had the nerve to take him out for a photo shoot (he had been well fed for the previous month so I figured he wouldn't be overly hungry). The first photo is the only one that was semi-decent on that day, and I was lucky to not get bitten to get it (a month's worth of large mice and rat pupss did keep him from getting too "oral". The following week, I was able to get several more..but there was a catch. He had to be fed first so he would sit still and not try to taste anything that came close.

You guys just have defective snakes! My Cali, Chocolee the Loveable, wouldn't dream of biting. Musking, yes, she's acquired that habit as an adult, but bite? Never! In fact, I'd call her a somewhat picky eater. She sure looks a lot like Mr. Napoleon. I love the coastal phase. They look like chocolate chip ice cream!

Mine does! Her favorite snacks include wussy gloves, wooden spoons, and snake hooks.

Sounds like we need to get our snakes together to create the ultimate in Killer Cali Kings! We let them loose and then the state won't have to worry about all the boas and pythons that are running around. Our new strain of kings will simply eat them all...plus the occasional stray pitbull, hobo and abandoned car on the side of the road.

Don't forget feral cats! ;)

LOL... I think I've shared before that the ONLY Cal kings that I've ever been bitten by are babies. Every adult I've ever had/held/caught has been an absolute doll.

Susan... Napoleon is GORGEOUS! He is a great looking KING!

My male will bite & try to swallow anything that moves; my female musks as soon as her lid is lifted but has only bitten once (on an overdue feeding day).

I keep them b/c I think the babies are very cute, but I will never have a large collection of calis & am reluctant to get any kind of king even though I really like the looks of some of the grey bands & MBKs.

That is a beautiful Cali you have there. I have a pretty one, who gives me trouble eating. I swear, she is probably the only Cali, in existence, that doesn't LOVE food!

Beauty!

Wayne

He's quite a looker! I've been lucky with my Cali King so far, he's pretty mellow.
