I Think Im Done....

Not really sure how to fully vent my frustration here, but I will do my best. I had a business partner for a few years now, we had a bit of a falling out and he opted to no longer be part of the herp world. Ok fair enough, no problems. Then after I went and collected the animals that were mine from his place and filled my car, I asked several days later to come up and split what was produced this year and what was held back from last year. Without going into the gory details that isnt going to happen. I have not, and more than likely will never, get anything that was produced by my animals last year or this year. Some of my animals were kept at his home, he claims I owe him money for keeping them there, I said ok, he never provided any documentation of what I owed, when I said I would be more than happy to provide him with more than half of the offspring to compensate he said no, he wanted cash. Wasn't going to happen, so I have constantly tried contacting him to get ahold of some sort of documentation to see exactly how much I owe him and try and get some of the offspring. This year was the firts year that a lot of my projects met thier goals, I had amber bloods, amber stripes, fires, some really interesting ultra animals, anery morphs, and a lot of ball pythons as well. So I just feel incredibly burned out by the whole situation and I am contemplating selling off the entire corn collection I have to 1. try and make some money off what I didnt have to sell this year and 2. try to forget all this even happened. Im not really looking for sympathy or anything, just somewhere to vent and to let you guys know my collection may be going on sale shortly.

Oh Ryan, that's terrible. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I know how difficult it is when dealing with people you thought were friends and then they turn around and burn you. Its an awful feeling. Don't give up, I'm sure you'll be able to figure something out.

Ryan, sometimes life just sucks. I had a life partner (or so I thought), that moved out one night when I was working the 11pm-7am shift. Took the furniture, the dog, the cat, the contents of the joint bank account....and left me a spineless 'dear john' letter.

I have remained partnerless since that very morning that I got home, and with a keyturn...my life changed.

If you have to "be done" for right now, then that's what you have to do. It won't be forever, I imagine--just until you've got things sorted out and the hobby can bring you some pleasure again. Good luck figuring it out.

Anyway, I had a friend that was going to get into some breeding with me and as soon as I got into corn morohs he got all rightous and thought morphs were evil. Thank god I was a week away from sending him snake to breed wit his black rat.

I dont know if people on this forum have noticed but my morelia collection is becoming extensive, I love the corns and I have always had a great deal of fun with my projects, but with all this I am contemplating getting rid of everything BUT morelia. Its tough and I dont really know what to do just yet. But I took as many of the animals as I could and am very close to maxed out on space.

In terms of a BOI thread, this guy isnt really active in the Herp community like I am. I would really see no point, he does not have a classified account on any forum, god knows how long it's been since he was on this forum, he has no idea of the market so if he trys to sell anything he is either going to sit on it forever because he has the price to high or he is going to basically give it away because he doesnt know what it is. He never took the time to really get involved or learn anything. If I was able to get some of the 09's back and some of my 08 holdbacks I would probably stick with it, but not having them just bums me out...

No big deal, I should have thought that out before posting. I cant imagine if it was someone I was involved with relationship wise, that would be 100X worse, and Im sorry to hear about what happened to you Eric. Thankfully none of my girlfriends have ever been like that.

If I ever have my animals involved with someone else, it will strictly be breeding loans with people I trust, or have a written contract with.

I would guess that the feeling of being stabbed in the back by a supposedly trustworthy friend might be as bad (or worse) than the loss of the snakes themselves. But as noted earlier, be very wary of reacting emotionally, or in haste. You at least have the means to reproduce much of what you lost. If you give them up, you may really regret it later, when you eventually decide to start anew. You should consider changing nothing of importance while in emotional stress, to avoid regrets later. If you still feel the same in a few months, then you can proceed rationally instead of emotionally. Better yet, consider keeping them through the next breeding season, and make your decision AFTER you see all of the cute noses poking out of eggs, lol!

I'm so sorry to hear all of this! It's people like your former business partner that make it hard to trust anyone in this world. I don't do anything with anyone anymore unless there's a paper trail (or an e-paper trail), and that includes my close friends, because I know what it's like to be burned. I'm sorry this happened to you. You're a cool guy.

I agree 110% with kathylove. Give yourself some time to think it over, because this is not a decision you want to make now when you are so upset. If ultimately you decide that this is the direction you want to go in, then do it because it is truly what you want to do, not because you are so frustrated with recent events.

Im sure when you got into the hobby it was for you and not your x-friend dont forget whey you have snakes and dont get rid of them over a bad day like i said keep your head up and im sorry.

I'm sorry for what happened to you. I've only done one breeding loan kind of deal. I took the female to my house, housed her, fed her (& the hatchlings a couple times) etc then split the babies as evenly as I could but it was me who picked which I kept & which I gave to the dam's owner. I felt that was fair enough to cover the costs of feeding.

I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you...I am currently not even breeding yet..but I already have a business partner who not only is working with me but is currently staying with me and my fiance..So things tend to heat up every now and then..And I do worry each time we fight that our business plans might hurt because of a result..but so far things have been okay..All I can say for all of this is...Sadly this is just one of life's hard learned lessons..At least now in the future, if you ever do partner up with someone..The right steps can be taken to prevent this from ever happening again..It really does suck when life throws curve balls like that..but we have to take each day for what it is..the good with the bad...and just keep on swinging..

I wish much luck to you..and personally I really hope you decide not to sell your collection..You have some beautiful animals..and remember..what is lost today can always be regained tomorrow..
