What do I do with this girl ?????

Thanks Roy I was unaware that sanitizer will not kill Crypto so good to know I have 2 snakes so no real worries, I hand wash and sanitize but can absolutely understand the need for precaution when handling many and different animals..

great thread..

Glove advocates beware. Universal precautions at a hospital include wearing gloves. You are required to wash your hands before putting gloves on, and after taking them off. ESPECIALLY after taking them off. You're probably okay handling your snakes and not washing in between glove changes, but if you were handling actual infectious humans, you'd be crazy to take off a pair of gloves and call that "clean."

One reference:

Gloves provide a safety barrier that protects patients or
food from skin-borne microorganisms. However, contamination
is still possible even when gloves are worn.
For example, the use of petroleum-based creams and
lotions may cause deterioration and increased permeability.
So it is essential that gloves be used in combination
with, not instead of, handwashing. In addition, it is
extremely important to wash hands after gloves are
removed, or whenever the integrity of the gloves is in doubt.

Betadine Surgical Scrub is one of the best things you can wash you hands with and then a rinse in peroxide to get most of everything out of your pores. That is the best defense agents spreading and pathogens, besides waring protective covering on your hands

I guess I'd be willing to take her off your hands for you. There...now wasn't that easy? No need to thank me. ;)

Sorry Vinny, but LBoz will need to save her money for other purposes. She will NOT be purchasing that snake. The time has come for someone to put his foot down, and that foot is me! (Google it.) ;)

The scariest communicable disease with corns is cryptosporidium. Hand sanitizers don't do crap against that. Gloves are a better choice.

According to what I learned the other day from a human infectious disease physician, the species of cryptosporidium that infects humans is resistant to sanitizer. That physician recommended soap and water and/or glove use as best. Just food for thought on the glove topic.

From what I've read, only strong solutions of ammonia can kill the strain(s) that affects snakes.

*giggle* It's about time someone curbed my rabid reptile spending! <3

Thanks, Vin...I just PMd you back. Dean's right, it's not prudent for me at this time. I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding a good home for her, though. She's lovely.

so when did you become LBoz owner

If she sends me the money your out of luck bro.:D

LBoz are you going to let Dean tell you what to do. I would buy it just for principle . Are you going to let some man push you around and tell you what to do like as if you didn't have a mind of your own???:nope: You need to show him what a strong independent female you are. :dancer::dancer::dancer:

Oh trust me, he knows...but he also sometimes knows what's best for me, even if I don't. Plus, if you go back to your original post, you said you didn't want to keep her and you didn't want to sell her, so my suggestion was for you to "give" her to me. I was trying to make your life easier, Vin!

I was joking, but I completely respect your support for a strong woman, my friend! Believe me, if she thought I was serious, she'd have one more snake and one less minion! ;)

Yes, but if I get my way, my collection will eventually be Dean's collection as well, and I don't know that he's ready for more quite yet. ;)
