New Woma :D!

Hello my CS friends,

I have recently posted a thread inquiring about Woma Python's, as I have been interested in them for quite some time. I gathered information online, and through other resources, but have gotten my best advice here (as usual :)). So thank you all who shared.

Now as some of you who posted under that thread may know; I had the opportunity to inspect, and purchase a Woma Python off of a local ad, and I have been quite pleased with the acquisition so far (link here: http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92271 ).

So after giving him a day to adjust, I have taken some photos. They're not great, and it's only a couple, but they give the right idea. He is also in shed, so I'm sure he'll be even more handsome once he sheds.

Thanks for looking :)!

I hate you.
I know :)! I do feel so grateful to have gotten him, because Woma's were on my "Dream" list (as in dream that won't come true list), but everything just aligned for me (so far).

The person who I acquired him from (CL ad, but don't flame me, I was skeptical too) said that he was supposed to be contacted by the same breeder for a female, should that person produce a female as light as this guy.
I won't have the money for another female anytime soon, but I will certainly let you know if or when I'm contacted, so you could inquire for yourself, and maybe I could hate you :)!!!

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooh, pretty womas!!!
But I'm still trying to decide what I want first... Womas... or Super Dwarf Retics...

Why would you get flammed? All of my animals have come from there. They have all been free or under 20$ but I don't see whats wrong with intercepting before the shelter. Ohhh, and I get a new carmel tomorrow. Free :)

ooooooohhh aaahhhhh! lovely!
Thank you :)!!!

So cute hope he's tude free- I've only met two in person and both were NASTY, but pretty:)
Thank you Danielle! He's definitely "tude free" (so far), so I feel very fortunate. Supposedly feeding time is another story for Woma's, but he can't be any "hungrier" than my Jungle Carpet Python is at dinner time, so I think I'll survive.

He's so pretty!!! I really love them, but they get so big!!!
Thank you Nanci. From the information I've gathered, some do get fairly large. But it depends on the locality. Some can reach impressive lengths of well over 6ft, while others may only rarely reach 5ft. I feel confident though, as this seems to be a consensus great first "larger" snake.

Perhaps someone could provide more insight, but from what I have read, and was told, his bloodline is of the Woma's known for being smaller in size. Also... supposedly the larger Woma's have identifying features, such as darker head/markings (more olive/brown). Whereas the locality of smaller Woma's tend to have distinctly lighter markings, and more orangey/golden heads.
I am prepared for larger, as I would not take on an animal I didn't feel capable of handling/caring for properly at it's largest, but I don't believe he'll grow to be very massive.

That's easy, pretty Woma's :)! Super Dwarf Retics do seem like uniquely amazing snakes, and a great way to own the beautiful Reticulated Python without the same worries. But they're attitude is probably still big (not that I really know, but I would assume), and Woma's are just SOOO cool.

It's interesting too. I have a friend on Facebook (through a mutual musical fan group), and he had posted pictures of his trip to the zoo from about a week ago. One of the photos was of a Woma, and everyone who commented was just like "Hell no", "Ewww", and other uninformed perceptions (without even having any clue what type of snake it was).
I left a long respectful post about the importance of snakes to our planet, How great they can be, etc... but I think it fell on deaf ears.

That's why I'm so thankful for all of you. I can post a Woma, and people actually care :)!!!

Congrats!!!! I remember getting my first, and have have a hundred pics of him, before I ever bought the "date!"

You will love this species. Nothing feels better in your hand than a woma, dude. Nothing.

Well, nothing excepting breasts and stuff if you are young. :sidestep:

Wow Chip!!! He's just gorgeous. Such light markings, and his head couldn't be any more vibrant. I'm so eager to see how my guy looks with his fresh scales. Thanks for sharing, and feel free to post as many pictures as you'd like... I can't get enough of your amazing Woma's!

t

wow.....just stunning. I want to hold that snake!!!!

Great choice for a snake! One of the few pythons I'd consider having... but as they are CITES I... it'll be a while yet.
Lovely little fella :)

Woma first robbie! SD retics are like bumps on a log.. not very fun IMO.. Dwarf retics act just like their bigger counterparts, but SD's seem to loose everything that even makes them a retic lol.. the ones I worked with didn't even have a feeding response, no biting, or constricting...
