A great CL find

Someone has been advertising a corn snake on our local CL for a couple of weeks. Last week, it was $75. This week, down to $50. I wrote to ask about if it came with its habitat for that price. He said "no". When I said, "Oh, ok", he wrote back in about an hour, asking me to make him an offer on this snake.

Long story short, I got him for next to nothing. We were talking about snakes, and I seemed to pass muster, for he just sent the big, handsome beast home with me for the price of the gas to run up to Vancouver and back home :). The guy is reducing his corn snake collection and getting into rubber boas, instead. All he has left are 15 eggs and the mama. She is an amel stripe. This fellow is the daddy who came home with me tonight:

His records say that he is an '08 male Lavender, het for diffused/bloodred. I'm curious as to whether he's a motley or not--he has both "circles" and saddles. Perhaps you can tell me:

He is a sweet and gentle animal, if a bit overweight. Handling doesn't bother him in the least.

Anyway, that's my unexpected adventure of the day. One more snake. I'm going to have to switch to racks, soon, if this keeps up!

Wow, gorgeous! Not motley. You can sure see the het bloodred markers!!! I prefer lavs, like yours, that have the blue eyes/ruby pupils.

Well, Nancy, who knows? You ever make it to OR, I might just send him home with you :). I think he's pretty--and I LOVE the blue eyes! But I wouldn't know what to do with a het bloodred anything. Maybe I'll just have to find out :).

Thanks for answering my question about whether or not he's a motley. I'm just not too good at telling what's what, yet.

Well, you make lavbloods with him, that's what! Plus, he's beautiful in his own right.

I wish I could find something that fantastic on craigslist! Wow, great find, and awesome that it is het diffused. Excellent lavender, nice colors.

Which means she needs to get a BR or het BR female to pair with him, now, correct?

He's gorgeous, Irish! Now I'm jealous! :)

(You should probably order a rack setup now...you know you're going to need it) ;)

Well, ideally, a bloodred het lavender, or a lavender het bloodred, or a lavblood. Or an opal het blood, or an amel het lavblood.

Oi! You're making my head spin :).

Oh, and his human named him "Rainier". Since that's the name of the small town my dad was born in, I think I'll keep it :).

No kidding! Unfortunately, things are tight for awhile. Perhaps in the next month or so we'll be able to afford to order one. Or build one--that's probably more likely, actually :).

At the rate I'm going, I might need to build some racks as well...LOL
I have an nimal Plastics Economy rack on order...it's supposed to be here the end of the month.

Nice addition, Mrs. Z. Lucky you. And yes! : make lavender bloodreds. :D ;)

Off topic, but you can just drive across the canadian border and drive back? I mean,...I don't know, and have always wanted to. I'm sure you have to show them ID and some kind of papers, eh?
I did wade across the Rio Grande to Mexico once. LOL. I was an illegal alien for about 30 minutes. The Big Bend On The Rio Grande is beautiful.

Vancouver, WA. It's a town on the south side of WA, near the border (Columbia River). :)

D'Oh!!!
:roflmao:
Thanks, Heather. (Also, nice pic in the forgetthesnakeswhatdoyoulooklike thread, where I almost _never_ go.)

That's ok, majority of the time, most people automatically think Canada, when referring to Vancouver. :)

(Thank you :) I didn't have any pics of me with any of my snakes, & figured it was a good excuse to show of Mica, one of my favorites.) :)

very nice snake,
btw, i know someone with some new lavenders het bloodred (and hypo), hopefully they come out as nice as yours
