My Dream Snake(s)!! Colorado Corns

Jessicat

All Pied Everything
Okay, this thread is half "look at my beautiful new arrival pictures" and half John Finsterwald is amazing!

John, purchasing animals from you was a great experience for me. You are kind, generous, and communicate honestly and quickly. In my book you're a stand up kind of guy. Also, the quality of your animals is amazing and parallels your professionalism very well. Thank you so much! You're an outstanding breeder and from what I can tell, a great person with a huge heart as well.

Okay, enough of the sappy stuff. My heart is singing right now, because I was able to add a morph to my collection that I've been wanting for quite some time now, but holding out for "just the right one". Well, I think my wait was worth it!

Here's my new little pride and glory,

Lyra Silvertongue

She's so breath takingly beautiful!
_1019085.jpg

I don't think I've even seen many pictures of a snake with this much diffusion, I can hardly believe I OWN one!
_1019095.jpg

I can't even tell where her belly ends and her sides being in some of these pictures!
_1019083.jpg

I love her head!
_1019076.jpg

One last pretty one..
Immediately living up to her name, she was very adventurous, wanting to explore everything.

This next snake was somewhat of a surprise. All I knew about her was she was a Pewter 66%het Lav. I let John pick her out, trusting his judgment, the only "instructions" given were, "I suppose I'd prefer a lighter Pewter".

Well, not having seen any pictures recently I had no idea what I was about to receive.. I'm not sure what her siblings look like, but I don't think John could have chosen a more beautiful snake for me. I was shocked and delighted when I saw her, realizing that she was a dream snake for me too! Thanks SO MUCH John for picking out this beauty for me. I think she's absolutley stunning! I love everything about her!

My first impressions.. I was breathless

She has crazy awesome diffusion as well!
_1019006.jpg

I am enthralled with this girl.. her subtle colors, the way they blend in so beautifully..
_1019024.jpg

Also, something cool happened when we were having out little photo shoot. A little butterfly landed on my hand and suddenly I had two beautiful creatures perched amongst my fingers.
_1019025.jpg

Belly shot ;) Where's Dean?!
_1019031.jpg

Eye color somewhat visible here?
_1019034.jpg

One more that shows a bit more of her pattern. Unfortunately I didn't get any full body dorsal shots. Wish I had because Lilac has some really cool stuff going on, but I'm sure I'll catch it in a future session.

I'm almost in shock and awe right now. I feel like I just won the jackpot! Thanks so much again John, for the OUTSTANDING snakes, and your quality service. You're absolutley amazing! *Does happy dance*

Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!

I feel honored to own one of your amazing Ghost Bloods from this season, and equally proud to own one of your beautiful Pewters. I'll post updates as often as I can!

OMGosh you've got 2 babies?! You lucky girl!!! Wow! Just beautiful! AND how wild is that to have a butterfly land on your hand!!!!
Grt Shots! Congrats!

I don't blame you one bit for being so excited - those are both amazing looking snakes! That ghost bloodred especially - WOW!! You are one lucky individual!!

Wow the diffusion on those two is amazing... :) Beautiful.. Congrats...!! I love the shot with the butterfly too.. How crazy is that to happen. :)

Beautiful little snakes. I love the head pattern on the ghost blood :) I just picked a snake from John as well one of the little ghost bloods siblings actually.

Edit: Oh forgot to add that I love her name as well :)

Thanks for the comments, guys! I nearly fainted when I saw the Ghost Bloods that John had hatched out. I have absolutley NO idea how Lyra will progress, and I'm very excited to see her transformations from one shed to another. I picked her for her two q-tips and because she seemed to be the darkest one..
I'm interested to see if a little bit of coloring stays, just her outline, or she becomes one color. I think she will have at least an outline of saddles, but I have NO idea what will happen to her sides and dorsal color!

In a way I think I'm glad that I didn't ask for pictures of the Pewters, and just trusted John's judgment. I just can't imagine how Lilac could be any nicer.

I was looking though all the pictures I took this morning, and I can't believe I forgot this one. You can see a lot more of her dorsal pattern.
_1019007.jpg

And then this one, minus the blurry head is the best "full body shot" I got. She's just spectacular!

The butterfly incident was very cool indeed. My roommate was standing next to me and she gasped. The insect actaully stayed there for quite some time. I wanted to get a picture with both the subjects in focus, but I had my macro lens on, and really at that point, all I could do was be thankful I had the camera on auto focus!

*sigh* I am a happy contented herper today.

Nice! Which one did you get? It was kind of a struggle for me to choose my favorite. Out of the options I had Lyra and one other were my favorites. Lyra was my first choice out of the two though. :D

Hehehe, as maybe you can tell, I just finished reading the His Dark Materials Trilogy (not for the first time, certainly not for the last either). I have a feeling that my next few snakes will be named after characters. For example if Lilac had been a male she would have, no questions asked, been named Iorek Byrinson!

Thank you, and I look forward to seeing pictures of your girl!!

It's really hard to pick, but I think Lilac is my favorite. I like her cool pattern! And I love her eyes. But they are both gorgeous! Isn't John just the nicest guy in the world? Who luckily also breeds the coolest corns??

This is the little girl I got. I am in love with her high diffusion :) and her colors. She doesn't have a name yet I need to think on it.

LOL I just started re-reading his trilogy for like the 5th time. I love the series and actually liked the book better then the movie.

You've got some real beauties, there! I LOVE the diffusion, and the pattern on Lilac's back is amazing. Congratulations on your dream snakelets!

Congrats on your new babies. They are amazing. Very nice photos as well. What kind of camera do you use?

Thanks for posting Jen! I had to debate for a little longer than a second on weather I wanted one of the cute baldies with the perfect pattern, or the little aberrant girl with the unsymmetrical head pattern and stripeity stripes. At some point during my obsessive looking between the two threads John made of the babies and a few of the parents, I fell in love with Lyra.

Coloration wise they all looked quite similar so far. I'm glad someone else who likes to post pictures has one! It will be fun to compare them as they grow. I'm sure you'll be able to come up with a great name for her.

Nanci, yes, I whole heartedly agree that John is the nicest guy in the world!! I feel like giving him some kind of award. I could tell John had amazing animals from his pictures, but I am impressed almost beyond words upon seeing them in real life!

Lilac was such an amazingly wonderful surprise because I had no idea what to expect look wise. I am enchanted by her, and even though I already have a Pewter, and wasn't as excited about her as I was about Lyra, upon seeing her I just FELL IN LOVE and became just as excited as I was about getting my dream morph. John is awesome!

Bartholomew, if it looks like Lilac is crying it's probably because she had to leave John's house! :grin01:
Thanks for the compliment on the picture. ;)

Ernst, I use an Olympus E 420. It's my first DSLR and I'm loving it. I've had it about a year now and it's still going strong! Also, the lens I was using for this photo shoot is a 1:3.5 Macro lens.

Oh man, don't even get me STARTED on the movie. Complete fail. Roger doesn't even die... in a way I'm glad that they made it pretty much impossible to do a sequel, because they did NOT do the movie justice. I could kind of tell from the preview that the movie was only going to scratch the surface of the depths of His Dark Materials, but I wanted to see visuals of the Daemons and Iorek.

Unfortunately I finished the trilogy wayyyyyyyyy too soon. I decided to read Ender's Game and the books that follow after. I had to have a day or so of mourning after finishing The Amber Spyglass though.
