New Pair!! Anery Mots...

...het. amber.

I bought a trio of them from KoCorns, and they arrived today in excellent condition. I only needed(and wanted) the pair, so I promised my favorite shop the extra female. I didn't get pictures of her because she was so beautiful, I knew if I brought her home I would keep her, and the shop owner wanted her as a pet, so...

Anyhow, here are pics of the male and female I kept. The first one(I hope  ) is the male, and the other 2 are the female. I've only had them for an hour or so, and haven't named them yet, but here they are...[edit](yes, they are in the correct order)[/edit]

After looking at mbdorfer's pictures of his Pastel Ghost Motley, her pictures have me wndering about my male. He is supposed to be anery het. amber. Does anyone think he might actually be ghost het. caramel, instead?

Just wondering...

Nice pick-ups. :) I don't know about the ghost het caramel thing. I'm not convinced that caramel hets can be visually identified. If they could, then caramel wouldn't be a simple recessive.

No, no...I was thinking he was a ghost instead of an anery het. hypo. I know he was sold as anery motley 100% het. hypo and 100% het. caramel. I thought there may have been a slight mis-labeling and he was not HET. hypo, but rather HOMO hypo...

*Smacks forehead* I need to brush up on my reading comprehension skills.

All three look like anery mots to me. Motley has a hypo-ish effect. :shrugs:

Cool...I didn't really expect them to be mis-labled. I bought them from KoCorns, who bught them from Rich, so it was fairly wishful thinking on my part, anyhow. Plus...I think they make a great pair, regardless. I'm hoping they will bulk up a bit this summer because I want to breed them next spring.

I named them Adonis and Aphrodite, because it sounded better than Adam and Eve...;)

They are gorgeous.
Ghost mots and anery mots and stripes can be very hard to distinguish. It is easier to be sure if you knew one of the parents was not het hypo and the only offspring it could produce was anery (which would get the het from the other parent)
I am hoping having an entire clutch to be able to compare them will help, since I have a couple of breedings this year that should produce ghost mots and anery mots. Because they can look so alike I do think it is not impossible yours could be ghosts, depending on what the parents were. I have seen a lot of people post pics of ghost mots that looked anery to me...

Unfortunately, I seriously doubt that Rich mis-labeled them in the original sale to Twyla, so I will assume they are as they were sold to me, and "merely" het. hypo and caramel.

I do hope to produce some ghost motleys next year from this coupling, however...we shall see...

Ah, that explains the mystery. It's so easy to miss things here. When I read the thread about your whole Fam Dambily, I was thinking- when did he get those mots and how did I miss that??? Love the ventral shot!

Chris mentioned the following..

I think if they originated from Rich, sometimes you never know what will crop up on you.. It is likely to have one suprise in the group.. *lol*
