New Florescent female

waldo

Crazy Tarantula Lady
I picked this girl up at the Renton WA reptile expo. Don't know a whole lot about her except she was directly bought from SerpentCo and is around 2.5 years old. She is approximately 35" and 220 grams. I had hoped to breed her this year but I'll wait for next season.

Pardon the bad pics, I didn't want to bother bother her too much yet. These don't do her justice, her colors are much better in person.

I also got 2 tarantulas and three dart frog tadpoles.

I actually walked by her 6-7 times before I stopped and got a good look and still took another hour or so to decide if I really wanted her. I had went hoping to find a opal, I finally realized I could make nice het opals if I bred her to my Lavender :bang: That was all the incentive I needed

There were not many corns at this show, except for the guy who had a couple small tubs full of adult amels. They were packed in like sardines, disgusting really.

Now thats colour! If only she had wider white borders, that would be a smokin RO!

I think she most definately qualifies as a RO. Maybe not the best example, but I think the borders would qualify. Either way she's a great additioin.

Isn't a fluorescent just a line bred RO from Rich? With emphasis on the bright color instead of the super wide boarders?
Doesn't matter either way, I'm planning on breeding her to my Lavender so I can get a het opal female for my opal male. Hopefully I can get her up to weight by the end of summer.

Actually no. The Fluorescent line started out completely independent from the Amelanistic Okeetees I was producing. I've shied away from the "Reverse Okeetee" label because that original label had Emoryi blood associated with it.

A few years ago, I merged the Fluorescent Orange and Amelanistic Okeetee lines I was working with, picking the best examples from both for the merger.

Personally, in my opinion, the Fluorescents are among the most brilliantly colored, and eye catching, of any of the corn snake cultivars.

Thanks for clearing that up Rich. I'm curious Rich, did you cross any other morphs into this line? I was wondering if this girl might have some hets?

Waldo,

Thanks for sharing your new Flourescent Orange CS with us! I bought one of Rich's '06 babies (male) back in Sept 06. He's really morphing into some intense colors already. I was glad to have found your pics here since I've never been really able to find any pics (besides Rich's) of an Adult Flouro. to see what they fully turn into.

BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks!

What a coincidence, I bought me a RO girl and bred it to my lav male... she is not (but close to) fluorescent but has the wider borders. Hope you don't mind posting their breeding pic.

Well actually the Amelanistic stock I used to create my original Amelanistic Okeetee line came from my Blizzard stock. I chose this line because the Amelanistics were such an intense orange coloration. So it is entirely possible that Charcoal could be floating around in there. I used to get Blizzards every now and again out of my Amelanistic Okeetees. Haven't seen that happen since I merged the two lines, however. So possibly that Charcoal gene got dropped out of the pool.

This is our female flourescent - she's all orange though. Just laid her second clutch ever yesterday too. Gave us gorgeous babies last year and some of them had dad's wide reverse okeetee borders. Not necessarily a flourescent in bright orange and red but still very vivid colors so you can see there is a little variation.

And for fun, last years hatchlings

The pics of the hatchlings are GREAT. Look at their heads, they've got the intense coloration already, but then fades out quickly. It was interesting when I bought my '06 baby at the MARS show in Sept '06. The coloration was intense for the first 3"-4" then faded out pretty much like the hatchly pictured. Now, my male Flouro. is 9 months old and his coloration is about 3/4 of his length now. I can't wait until my guy get 3-4 years old!

If anyone is lookingfor an intense color corn snake take a chance on a Flourescent Orange CS. You won't be disappointed.
