My Reverse Okeetee Cottonmouth is developing some SERIOUS yellow boarders. I'm not sure if this is common in high whites or not. I've looked at many photos of adult Reverse Okeetees and I'm just starting to notice that some of them do seem to have a yellowish tint to their boarders. I guess I never noticed it in photos before I witnessed it in person.

Cottonmouth just shed this last week, here are some photos of her exhibiting her yellowed boarders. What are your opinions of this look? I'm just wondering if anyone actaully likes it. Honestly, I do not like this look and I'm kind of disappointed with the way she's maturing.

Here are some outdoor shots that REALLY show it off..

Well I like it... looks like those "yellow" spots ought to glow in the dark XD

Would be interesting to see a snow from a snake like that... those yellow spots would be nice!

Wow, I actually really like the yellow borders! I didn't think I would, but I really do! Sorry she isn't maturing like you thought, but I still think she's beautiful. =)

Jessicat, why dont you like her? that is one serious RO, Those thick boarders are out of this world, and i kind of like the yellow colour.

Cool! I have had just a few like that, but not many. I think they would be very popular. Some will love that look, others will prefer something different. But I would look for a mate that might enhance the look. Maybe a son? If you don't like it, you might not want to breed to enhance it. But I think the babies would be popular if you decide to try to establish a bloodline that may eventually predictably produce that "look".

She looks like a banana split with cherries on top.

Perhaps her look will grow on me. :shrugs:

I guess I just liked her look a lot more when her saddles were white.

Geeze Tom, she's only 2... going on 3 I guess. I wonder how much brighter she's gonna get?

She's gorgeous. She reminds me, sort of, of an albino tangerine honduran, I think. But where's my favorite Copperhead???

I have seen many yellow borders on Ro's... but yours is particularly unique in that it reminds me of the counter tops and carpets in the house I grew up in... :D

I love her color, let me know if you decide you dont want her anymore! :)

where's my favorite Copperhead???

You're in luck Nanci! I snapped a few quick shots of him today as well. The color's not the best on these. They were taken in the same fashion as the first images of Cottonmouth that I posted.. indoors with light coming in through the sliding glass door. I'm glad I got a few pics though. Copperhead is one of my favs for his cool pattern and great disposition. I need to get some better pictures of his lower half. I'm not sure i would call it hurricane, but his saddles are outlined. He's still got some growing to do, I think he will be amazing in another year.

Props to Tom Thompson for creating such beauties!

Kathy, my only plans so far for Cottonmouth are to match her with my Ultramel male. I'd like to create some thick bordered ultramels. Perhaps I will add a few more Reverse Okeetees to my collection. I think I'd like a snake that looks just like the Reverse Okeetee on the cover of your book. If Cottonmouth's look grows on me maybe I'll eventually purchase another male from Tom though.. that is if Tom still has Cottonmouth's father. I think Cottonmouth would be a good addition to a Bubblegum Snow project as well, but I don't have a huge interest in pursuing a project like that myself. I probably won't be breeding for another few years or so anyway though.. as a college student I'm just not quite ready yet. Perhaps when I am ready I'll have a good male for her. I do have a nice Snow male that is totally white with pink around his neck that I could pair her with. Already the possibilities are presenting themselves!

Thats one awesome looking snake! Sorry to hear she is disapointing you. I had thought the same about my hypo for a while but he has really grown on me. =)

WOW that copperhead is STUNNING!! He is a hurricane? I've never heard of that morph, but that snake is sure a looker!

I have a yearling with the yellow/greenish border look, only they are not that thick. I kept her back with her brother to start a candy cane line but her brother does not show any sign of it, so I hope for a male son of them with the same feature to breed to his mother to establish a separate yellow/greenish border line.

I'm going to have to agree with Jessica on this one. I just don't like the yellow/green boards, not on any morph. My motley snow is devoloping the same color outline on her saddels and I hate it, totally ruined her pink coloring.
Copperhead is absolutely stunning though:)

Thanks for the comparison pics Blutengel. Do you like the look or did it halt your breeding plans (besides the male turning out sub-par)? I never really had any serious breeding plans for Cottonmouth, I bought her because I love the look of ROs. I guess that's where my disappointment comes from.

sarcare, do a search for Hurricane Motleys. I'm not sure my description is going to cut it, but here's an attempt..
A Hurricane Motley is a motley that has a perfect dot-dot-dot pattern, and the dots are outlined, then the coloring fades as it moves away from the dot. Copperhead doesn't really have the right pattern that a Hurricane Motley would require, but some of his Motley "dots" (they're more like squares) do have the characteristic outline and fading of a Hurricane Mot. I can tell that he's got some more growing to do, and I think that some of his orange is going to fade. I can already see it slightly happening. I'm not sure what the striping will look like. It might be outlined in orange, or will it have an outline and fading around it as well? It will be interesting to see.

Nanci, the pictures I took yesterday were just not good enough! Copperhead deserved a full on photoshoot. Here are a few teaser pics. He will have his own thread once I get all the pics edited, but I also took pictures of about half my collection... so I have a LOT to edit today.

These show his color soo much better than those pictures above.

Here's a closeup to show off the "Hurricane-alike" fading on his lower half.
