Kokoro - VBB Progression Thread

Decided that rather than resurrect a "mis-labeled" thread, I'd just make a new progression thread for Kokoro, my gorgeous Vietnamese Blue Beauty snake.

Here she is on June 25, 2008...

I can't remember when these were taken, but between early spring and now... BEFORE it started getting to be 100 degrees outside.

Sorry about our garbage bag in the picture! LOL. You can see that she's definitely longer than my 5'5" height

So sorry that yesterday's pics were so CRAPPY! She was QUITE testy, although she did not even strike at me. You could sense her nervousness. I think it simply was too hot outside for her. LOL.

Hope you've enjoyed the pics!

Gorgeous snake. Honestly, that is one of the most striking snakes I've seen, from the gorgeous color to the amazing pattern. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! She's beautiful, Fred! Thanks for showing us her progression. :) How old is she? I love how her blue is coming in.

definatly on my want lists!

Thanks to you both! She certainly is full of character! While she's never struck at me (well, she did - so says my son, but I missed seeing it), she does make me nervous. She's got quite the maw now and I've seen what her teeth can do! LOL.

Fred... she is beautiful! Definitely on my want list. Its neat how the pattern and body of the VBB and TBS are so similar, yet how much of a contrast the coloration is. I would love to someday have one in the tank next to my TBS to show the two next to each other. How old is yours now? And how old was she when you got her? I'm definitely going to keep my eyes peeled for one.

Kewl! Glad you like her. I bought her a year ago June... and she was supposedly about a year old already. So she's about 2 years and 3 months old. She's right at 6' long... her 40 gallon breeder tank is 3 feet long on a long side and she had doubled herself right up against the glass just before I took her out for those pics. LOL.

I'm sorry I didn't get better pics of her, but it was kind of hot yesterday (around 100 degrees - I THOUGHT it was cooler) and she seemed REALLY antsy so I took a few (or had a few taken) and got her back into the house. :)

Sorry, Suzy! I didn't notice your response after Tara's.

She's about 2 years and 3 months old. Her "blue" actually has been with her the whole time. She shed the day before I took those last pics, so I like the way she's RETAINED a lot of blue. :)

She is so beautiful! Maybe it was just too hot for her outside. I couldn't stand your weather!

Sadly unless I can find a VBB for a great deal and is local, I'm going to hold off on getting one until after I get the Bush Viper and the Brazilian Rainbow Boa. After that I will definitely start actively shopping around for one, I'd prefer a yearling but I can be flexible with that. I'm not looking forward to buying another $370 tank, but I want to put a matching set up next to my TBS.

Katie is looking to get another Corn fairly soon, so the snake wall should get pretty interesting fairly soon. She wants one that will have a very heavy contrast to Scarlet. We looked at a Okee that was a violet color on kingsnake.com and we are going to some reptile expos this month and shop around.

I'd like to get our little collection for the most part "finished" by this up coming summer. So that will be 5 new snakes over the next 8 months or so. I'm excited to say the least.

PS where abouts did you get your VBB? Store, breeder, expo?

I bought her at a reptile specialty store called Pets Inc. They used to have a MUCH LARGER variety of animals, but have now tried to specialize in Fish, Reptiles and Tarantulas. Her mother was 13 feet long (saw her, but didn't measure her... just going by what the store owner said). Her brother (who I didn't buy) was a MEAN monster that attacked the glass when people walked by - OVER and OVER and OVER again. LOL.

Whooooaaaaa 13 feet?!? That would be by far the largest beauty I've ever even heard of! Wow!!! Hahaha her brother sounds like he wants to keep the reputation that the VBB has going! Thats kind of why I want a yearling so I can really check out it's temperament. With the one Hot moving in, I'd rather not have 2 snakes that are strictly for display.

Are they still doing VBB breedings at the place you got Kokaro from? I love her coloration. VERY beautiful!

Wow... I didn't realize that I had taken pics of Kokoro so recently as September 2009. LOL. For some reason, I thought it had been a longer period of time. But instead of "wasting" the pics, I decided to post some of what I took.

October 10, 2009.

Very very interesting, Fred. A beautiful snake. Great shots to see all of the pattern the whole length.
