'06 Cinder Update

Zara was produced by Carol last year. She's probably just over a year old now, and she weighs in at 165g. She's a moderate grower, mainly because she won't eat in blue or until after she sheds. She also gets picky about prey once in a while-- I had to bump her from hoppers to double-fuzzies because she refused weaneds. But she's taking them now. :)

I wasn't happy with any of the photos I took of her, but these were at least presentable...

Hahah, I actually don't like the cinders that much, but she is deffinately a gorgeous girl. Maybe I'll have to consider one someday. ;)

Chris: Thanks! I have an '07 male cinder who should be ready for her in '09. I also have a pair of hets that will be breeding in the upcoming season. :)

Deb: Thank you, Deb. :D Yeah, they have super-cool eyes-- black pupils in metallic gold irises.

Amaya: Thanks. But what's not to like? ;) (You don't have to answer that. You're entitled to your opinions.)

Very pretty Dean, do you have older pics of him by any chance that you could share here. susang

Wow Dean. She's gorgeous.
For some reason I think I remember seeing a Cinder baby that you had posted pictures of before, and I thought it was hideous. I don't know if this is the same baby. But now I'm wanting one!

She's lovely Dean.

She is probably one of the snakes I look at most on this forum, to try and convince myself that my cinder babies will turn into something like that! I can see the reddish tones coming through now that they've shed a few times, but it'll be a long while before they approach being anything as pretty as Zara.

Thanks folks. :D

Here's a photo of Zara, the '06 cinder when she was under 10g. To her right is Zeke, my '07 male cinder when he was under 10g. It's funny, but my flawed memory recalled her as being more colorful than the male at the same age, but these pics show that their coloration at the same age isn't that far apart.

He should be shedding any minute, so I'll be posting an update of him soon...

Hope this isn't seen as a thread hijack, but Zara is almost identical in colour to my boy, who isn't much over 10g now:

Fingers crossed he continues to look like her!

Yep, very close. Your boy is very nice! There's some variation between cinders now, but that's likely to increase substantially once the gene is outcrossed to and recovered from many different corn lines.

I think she looks best in the first and last pics, where she is more silvery. Which is a more accurate representation of her color?

Nanci

Thanks Tom. I wish the male would hurry up and shed. He's a chowhound, but he hasn't shed since I got him (about 5 weeks ago).

That's a hard question to answer. Like many snakes, she looks different in different lighting conditions. Sometimes she looks "plum" on silver like in the pics you referred to and sometimes she looks rust on gray. :shrugs:

Thanks for the pics of the youngins Dean. I have a normal het anery, stripe and poss het cinder. I'm just noticing his sides are grayish and not as normal as my other normal was. susang

She looks pretty in all the lights I've seen her in!
