Irish Eyes (Mrs.Z)
Zookeeper
I was hoping that tomorrow morning I would be introducing you to my new Brazilian Rainbow Boa, but the guy won't be shipping him quite yet as originally planned. Apparently they're going to have 90+ temps for the next 6 days where he lives. Bummer for me, but I certainly understand and support the reason for not shipping him/her, yet!
So, for now, I'll have to content myself with introducing you to my new friend who came to live with us just about 30 minutes ago. He's "just" a normal ball python, but I fell in love with him the moment I met him. It's like snuggling a sleeping cat--comfortable, in other words
. Got him off CL this morning for $30, which included his 20L tank and screen, the UTH, 2 nice hides, a big water bowl, a feeding tub, and a UV bulb and fixture (which I won't be using). Not bad! AND the snake is nice! He's "Probably" a male, as his sibling is a foot longer than he is, and they're the same age (4 years). He's 3.5 feet, and the other is 4.5 feet.
The guy who owned them put them up for adoption on CL (he and his family are moving to KY in 2 weeks), along with an amel cornsnake. I took the supposed male bp, some other people took the other 2 snakes. After grilling the guy about its feeding habits (f/t! YAY! otherwise I wouldn't have got him) and seeing for ourselves what a mellow snake he is, I couldn't resist. Even Z seems to like him, which is good, 'cause I thought a nice, mellow bp might be just the thing to help him get comfy with my snakes
.
Anyway, here's the snake. No name, yet. I didn't find out from the guy what he called him, and his kiddos didn't know, so I'll just find one I like and we'll go with that. He's fresh shed, and feeding will be in 2 days, so now seemed as good a time as any to introduce him:
So, whatcha think? He's not a fancy morph or an impressive species (as pythons go), but I really, REALLY like him
.
