A SURPRISE HET FROM STEPHEN...

Well, we purchased a 1.1 Normal het Ghost Bloodreds from Stephen Wagner awhile back. Our plans were to produce some really hot Ghost Bloodreds. We have had a trio breeding now for 4 years in hopes of getting at least one of them. To this day, not a one! Yes the genetics are there, just those three genes dont want to hookup.

Stephen hoped the female was shipped gravid by his Ghost Bloodred boy. So were we. Yet, she didnt like that train of thought on either party. "Katie" had dreams of her own. I waited and waited, she was all plumpy and "gravid". But no eggs! I didnt think she could be gravid for 3 months, so after talking with Stephen a few times, I did as he advised. Put the Normal het Ghost Bloodred boy in with her.

After waiting and not planning on "Katie" doing it this season, I thought she might be gravid "again". I gave her a lay box for the second time around. One afternoon, there were 9 little white eggs waiting for me to see. Knowing this would be the very last clutch of the year, I held my breath.

Well, they pipped early! Good! They all pipped! Good! But what was this...an amel??? How the heck can that be??? A snow??? Are you kidding me!! What the heck is going on with this clutch? Stephen I thought you said they were het ghost bloodred.

They started pipping Saturday night. Sunday was our Expo show so I was too busy and tired when we got home to take any pictures. Monday night we looked at them again. A normal was out of the egg. A hypo girl was too. Tonight we checked them again. YUP, a flipping amel! YUP, that was a snow as well.

It has come down to 2 normals, 1 amel, 1 snow, 2 hypos, there is still one in the egg...amel based for sure.

BUT........OH MY GOODNESS.........

A female Ghost Bloodred!!! AND to boot, one of my favorite morphs.....An Avalanche!!

Pippie pics soon!

So what I would like to say to you my dear friend Stephen....THANK YOU!!!!
(if only the stripe gene was there too...lol)

That's awesome, PJ! :) Congrats on the new babies! Do you have pictures up yet? I'm so impatient! ;)

As for pictures, I am VERY glad I hadnt taken them yet. Jay woke to a computer that was in failure when he turned it on. I have been doing the recovery stuff and ALL our pictures, music, personal folders, and more all gone! I do have the external hard drive but I hadnt backed up the system all summer....I am soo mad at myself!!

Pics soon of the hatchlings.

PJ

I was just talking about that yesterday I haven't copied anything to my external all summer either:( Sorry about your pics I have another chore now.

Hi Everyone,
Here are some pictures as promised. Sorry it has taken us a little bit but here they are. I was quite suprised to find out that this pair is het Amel as well. These two were the only Bloodred based morphs in the clutch but who could complain about these combos? Again, thanks for everything Stephen.
First up is the 0.1 Ghost Bloodred. I really like the diffusion this girl has. A Ghost Bloodred is on of my favorite morphs and it's all because of those eyes.
Next is the 0.1 Avalanche (one of PJ's favorite morphs). Who knows, this girl could be Hypo as well. Thanks for looking and I hope you like.

Jay
