So we have atleast another year before we ever start thinking of breeding but figured I would ask anyways. We have 3 corns a amel who we figure to be male and a snowy and anery that we figure to be female if we are correct and they do ever breed how does this work do I get a clutch with half of one half the other do they produce some kinda half morph is one characteristic so dominate maybe I get a 90/10 split. Like I said just curious bout the way it works if anyone has time to break it down incase I'm wrong on the sex's maybe you could do all options amel+snowy anery+amel anery+snowy
 
The amel + snow would give you all amels unless your amel is het for snow.
The snow + anery would give you snows, anery, normal, and amel.

There may be things that I missed, but I am pretty sure that is what you would get with those parings.
 
Amel + Snow = all Amel het Anery (snow is anery and amel combined)
Amel + Anery = all normal het Amel and Anery.... Why not snow? because both parents would have to contribute an Amel and a Anery gene. Example... If your Amel is het Anery and your Anery is het Amel = Amels, Anerys, Snows at different possible ratios. The corn calulator Ali put in the post is a good way to figure the ratio or percentage "chance" you have at each morph.

Thanks guys like I said its cool just to know what does what. When do yall sex new snakes I figure next spring they will be 10 months old so I thought we would sex em then maybe try to work with the temps coming into breeding time but without actually introducing them to breed is that stupid is that possible I mean can I even tell if they are going into breeding patterns or if I'm doing it right at that young of a age don't even know if you can do a dry run or if its just a waist of time or detrimental to my snakes I mean can you screw with there heads by getting everything right and then not introducing em together.

For their safety, the female should be about 3 feet long, 3 years old, and 300 grams of muscle (not fat!).

Some males also won't breed until they are two years old, or older.

There is no change in temperature required for breeding, unless you put them into brumation... and that's just bringing them back up to a normal temperature again. So basically, it's impossible to do a dry run because the care is exactly the same.

A candycane is a line-bred amel that has been bred to have a pure white ground color, and red or orange saddles. A creamsicle is an amelanistic hybrid of a corn snake and an emoryi rat snake.
 
I wouldnt introduce them until they are of breeding age. (3,3,3 rule)I would hate to see a "teenage" snake get egg bound. It could kill them and/or cost you a ton in vet bills and still never be able to produce for you. So please be Patient. I would suggest reading more up on it, Kathy and Bill Loves "Cornsnakes the Comprehensive Owners Guide" is a great book.

Candy Cane is a selective breed Amel. There is no gene for it. So you could take to Candy canes and get regular Amels.

Dreamcicle??? Not sure what you mean. Creamsicle are hybrids crosses. (Corns with Emoryi rat snakes.) Creamsicle also refer to the Albino version of the cross but also can refer to any of the hybrid cross with an Emoryi rat snake. You also might here Rootbeer and Cinnamon, these are also crosses with emoryi rat snakes and corns. Rootbeer is when the snake appears to look like a normal corn, Cinnamon is when they are showing Hypo traits.

The 3,3,3 rule: 3 feet, 3years, 300 grams.

Thanks guys I thought you had to do that brumation thing before they would breed put em in hibernation and bring them back or they wouldn't breed. Good to know on the 3 3 3 rule I thought 2 years was plenty I'm glad to know that there is help not really concerned about the breeding just something to look forward to so a extra year is just more anticipation and building of excitement
