But be careful which bloodlines you get!
I got some at the Tampa show years ago (can't remember from whom) and they are quite tame. But I have heard that some lines are vicious and not very likely to become tame.
I really like these guys! I had quite a nice colony going in my rodent room. But they got some kind of mites that were also on the mice and rats. The other rodents didn't seem too affected, but my ASF were EATEN UP! I lost a number of them before I even realized what was going on. Then a vet suggested that I spray them with a dilute spray of Ivermectin. They were all dead within a day or so. So I would suggest keeping them separate from other rodents. I would probably try a No Pest Strip type treatment if I ever got the parasite problem again, although I don't know whether that would work, or cause problems, ether.
I had given some of my babies to a friend when I first started raising them. So my bloodlines are still available to me when I am ready to get back into raising them again. If you can't find any in Tampa, let me know and I will ask if he has some extra to sell to you. (My friend is also in Tampa).
