I have a female snake, and I was just wondering the other day...do snakes have periods? I feel like such a noob asking, but I'd like to know for future reference. Thanks!

No. Menstruation is only found in mammals, specifically primates and I'm pretty sure only humans have periods. (perhaps other closely related species do as well).
Other animals reuse/absorb the uterus lining. However they may still have vaginal bleeding, which could be linked to their sexual maturity or what stage of reproductive cycle they are in (different types of animals follow different cycles). This is not a period though, because they are not shedding the uterus lining.

Lol well thank goodness no one thinks it's dumb! I had a friend whose dog had to wear a diaper because she was not spayed and was bleeding. I'm not sure if if was a period or what. But good to know!

Vetusvates, you can't decide whether I'm stupid or not? How nice. You should have just kept your mouth shut. Everyone has to start somewhere. I start here because there are so many nice, knowledgable people on this site. So thank you to everyone who took the time to kindly answer my simple question. You, on the other hand, vetusvates, took the time to insult me instead of leaving an answer. Also, anthropomorphism applies to mental and emotional functions, not biological functions. Make sure you know your words before you used them to put someone down.

First of all, I apologize for any and all insults. I did not intend to insult. Milk a little humor?...maybe...and I apologize for that. I was overly-familiar with hopefully a new chum. I was wrong and will not let that happen again.
Secondly, I apologize for assuming that so quickly we have any rapport by which humor might be exchanged. I had felt good enough about the first thread that I assumed we might joke or have a laugh. I assumed wrong and I apologize. I further promise, again, to never let it happen, again.
Thirdly, I apologize for so quickly and flippantly leaving the post here earlier that I did. At a minimum I should have been more specific about the question itself. It was the question to which I referred, not you personally.
At a maximum I should have ignored the thread and moved on. If here and now in this thread I have so basely shamed myself, and left you so horribly and permanently scarred---I promise I will never post again in any thread you start.
Snakes differ morphologically, phylogenetically, ontologically, embryologically, reproductively, taxonomically (see KPCOFGS, etc.) and in another infinite number of ways---from mammals.
Note, from no obvious visible (external) secondary sexual characteristics, nor obvious apparent limbs for locomotion.......to what might be to some less (or more) subtle : the rather less obvious striking dissimilarity of a male snake's hemipenes---vastly different in structure and method of use (from mammals and other warm-blooded species). Also note, sperm retention AND a menstrual cycle are not both likely to occur in any sexually dimorphic species I can think of.
Lastly, I want you to know, that If I did not care about your perceived wounds, and if I did not care about being perceived as so asinine......then I would not have taken the time and attention to post this detailed/long post in your thread.
I tend to often speak in metaphor and lean often toward sarcasm. There are more than a few here in this forum who do so, from the very top on to the very bottom of the pecking order. ShelbyScott, V is just being, well, V! Some of us have odd senses of humor and our honesty and silliness can be taken out of context. Remember, there is no way to see our facial expressions as we type our answers, and without knowing each other very well responses can be misunderstood. Please know that V is truly sorry and I hope your feelings aren't hurt. We have all been on the receiving end of an answer that we didn't know weren't meant to be hurtful.
