Best online mice

That's how I do it, too. And that's why I need the variety! I divide mice into reds, S, M, L, XL pink, Small peach fuzzy, Peach fuzzy, S,M,L Fuzzy, S,M,L Hopper, S, M, L Weanling, First Adult, M adult, L adult, XL Adult, and JUMBO adults that only Janine can eat.

And I thaw them in the same bowls, using tail cutting codes for telling the sizes apart.

Holy Jeez! I'm probably going to overwhelm myself with information but what weights are those and then what weights do you feed them to?

(this information appeals to my OCD tendencies or else I wouldn't ask :bird: )

I love big cheese for their variety, too. I have bags in my freezer in order, with the labels of: 2-3 grams, 3-4 grams, 4-5 grams, etc., up to hoppers because that's where we are at right now. I do have weanlings in the freezer but unopened. I weigh the snake, I check the chart (http://medusa-corns.webs.com/feedingchart.htm), usually go a bit smaller than the chart, and get the mouse ready to go.

Before I did this, I know I was feeding on the right schedule but the prey was too small. Now I feel like they are growing at the right pace. Except for my PetCo corn, who really needs smaller than even conservative Munson plan sizes because she'll regurge.

So what is my best option, buy them and donate extras, pet store mice, or something else?
You need not donate them. Use them up until they are gone. Give the snake two peach fuzzies instead of a regular fuzzy.

So funny, I CURSE them for the variety of sizes! I want the impossible, which is for every food item to be within 10% size of the rest. I constantly find myself weighing and lining up mice for who they will go to.

THIS....

is why i miss The Mouse Factory, among other reasons.

For Washington I get mine from Glacier Rodents in Enumclaw .45 for Sm and Lg Pinks and .49 for peach and Fuzzies. Not the cheapest you can find but I have been satisfied with the quality, Point Defiance Zoo uses them plus he lets me pick them up at the farm so I make the 20 minute drive and save on shipping!

I didn't know that place existed. I still think I'm going to end up breeding my own though.

LOL @ Chip, and I thought I was the only one that did that! Dig through the bags, weigh them, thaw, and 30-40 assorted mice all lined up by size going each going to a specific snake ....too funny!

Layne Labs sells bags of 10. If you just have the one snake, you could 10 sm. fuzzies, and 10 lg. fuzzies. I just did that and honestly they both looked the same, a mix of sizes in both. But anyway, they sell in packs as low as 10 in each.

I like Layne Labs for being able to order smaller quantities, plus they're in CA, so shipping is much better than the east coast suppliers.

I tried Big Cheese a couple times, and although they are cheaper than LL, I prefer LL quality. I also dislike the styrofoam they come with at Big Cheese.
I am really not impressed with the pinkies from BC.

Glacier Rodents was one I was going to suggest for being local. I have gotten a few from him at shows. They are a bit pricey, but he has fancy mice too.

Another one is Brand X Reptiles, who is located in Tacoma. I've never dealt with them, but I know a few people that recommend them.

The Big Cheese orders I've gotten come in fiberglass, not styrofoam. They ship ground, but with so much dry ice that Texas to Florida in the summer, three days, they are still frozen solid with a ton of ice left. That makes shipping super-cheap. I've been very happy with the quality of everything. Clean mice, no poop, a shaving here and there...Vacuum packed.

The insulation is fiberglass, which I'm not a fan of, since it's not sealed, but I was referring to the styrofoam platters they come on. I think it's a waste, and I'm not a fan of it.

I like the way Layne Labs ships the mice. Dry ice in a very thick styrofoam box, that is inside a cardboard box.
I have reused the boxes for moving breakables.

Layne Labs is more expensive than Big Cheese, and shipping to the east side of the states will be more, because they're in CA.

You can also check out local reptile shows and buy in smaller quantities there.
I don't know how close you are to Hamburg, but I know there's regular shows here.
Expos/shows are a great place to get feeders from.
