Bloodred (Progression)

thanks! i liked her colors as a baby too, but i hope she gets to be really red when she gets older.. but according to the Belgian waffle up there, she probably wont because she isn't a very good blood.. :)

I have to agree with the previous poster Mike.
This gal looks great but I am not sure you are going to get the deep red in this one.
The diffusion is also kinda weak as well.

Here is a female I got this year from Mark S. of the herp society. He came in and showed some of his off during the Meeting when Kathy Love came.
His have a nice deep red look to it with great diffusion. I know that Amanda's line some of them do not get that diffusion as you hope.

But then again, I can be wrong. This gal has yet to be near her mature colors and may darken and diffuse out.

i know she doesn't have good diffusion, and i know good diffusion=deep red. I'm not retarded.

i agree with what he said, but he didn't have to come out and said she wasn't a good blood.. i'm probably going to take a break from this site. pisses me off too much.

I dont think the poster meant to insult you and sound that harsh, after all they are from Belgium and their English may not be the greatest.

Also relax, we are not flaming you or your snake. Its hard to gauge people's knowledge on morphs. I know you are relatively new to snakes. But also remember this information is also helpful to other Newbs who come here who may not know the difference.
We are just comparing the differences in the same morph.

Great progression threads!

This snake looks awesome. I would take most comments with a grain of salt. Don't base what you do on other people's opinions. You chose this snake because you liked it, not because there's a group of people online that you feel have to see your pictures every couple months. IMO, any blood (cornsnake) is a good blood (cornsnake)!

Can't wait to see more pics!

I've been a member here since 2002 and have gotten a lot of crap from people. At one point I got so upset that I seriously considered giving up snakes entirely just because someone here decided to personally attack me and since I was open to comments I listened and ended up taking it to heart and feeling like an inadequate owner. I made a different account (this one) and took a long break from this site. I realized that it was ridiculous to consider selling my snake because someone had apparently woken up on the wrong side of the bed that morning and wanted to take it out on me.

It's really not worth giving up something you love because you feel like someone has attacked you over it. It's not even worth leaving this site--this site has been an incredible wealth of information for me over the years. Whenever I have any kind of problem or question, I've found that it's most helpful and fastest to come here rather than go to a book, another website, a petstore, or even the vet (somehow I seem to know more about snakes than my own vet does).

You really shouldn't let a comment like that bother you. You have a gorgeous snake and it's really hard to say how her color is going to turn out. The person who said that wasn't trying to attack you but was just commenting on the snake's diffusion. I hope you can realize that the majority of people here are on your side. For the most part people here are incredibly friendly and honestly want to help you and your snakes.

Sorry for the length of this. I just feel like the comment wasn't necessarily meant to be derogatory and it certainly isn't something you should take to heart. This site is a great place for you to meet other people who love snakes as much as you do, as well as an excellent way to expand your knowledge and even share some of it. It seems the negatives of leaving outweigh the positives in this case.

I apologize I was understood wrong .
I didn't say or even didn't mean to say it is not a nice animal ( great greyhead indeed ) . I just tied to compare the sides and its diffusion , but not that this is not a nice animal (look to my last words )

You don't owe anyone an apology, Marc. Your comments were accurate and informative, particularly to those who aren't as knowledgeable as you are about bloodreds.

You know what's really cool about your snake- she looks like she has a banded pattern! My bloodred yearling, Jasmine, is going through a bright orange phase right now. But her parents are as dark bloodreds as you can find, excepting Wild Cherry, maybe, so we will just have to wait and see what develops.

I love your snake, she's stunning! I just got a little bloodred that isn't really very diffused at all, so I'm hoping that he/she will at least look interesting as it grows! Yours is turning out beautifully. ^_^

I have a female bloodred that is absolutely gorgeous as an adult and I think yours will turn out very similar to mine. She is "bi-colored" and it looks cool. I understand that isn't the look MOST people want in their bloodreds, but it is still very distinct and pretty in my opinion.

Yours will likely continue to gain diffusion on the laterals but only fade somewhat on the dorsum. I'll see if I can get a pic of mine and post it to show what I am describing. Keep your pics coming.

Your blood is stunningly bizarre. I can't wait to see photos of her outside her hide! I always love the oddball snakes. ^_^
