Yeah I read the comments to, they just pissed me off and I wanted to reply to all of them, but there is no sense arguing with misinformed people who think they know it all and are completely ignorant and set in their ways.

Of course, this is why I have always opted not to get into the Boids for the most part..
The responsibility lays on the that keeper.. His conscience is going to have to deal with this.. The Baby Girl should have never died, the cage should have been secured better than it obviously was..
Indeed, the largerest Boids are going to end up under the axe, and we are all going to pay for it one way or another..

This is just way too sad and in so many ways. Look where the "general public" is taking this story...
"I'd just like single mothers to stop and think about what they are exposing their children to. It is an established fact that mother's boyfriends pose the biggest threats to children- esp. in terms of abusing and killing them. I will not say that is necessarily the case here, but if this mom stopped and thought about the environment she wanted to create for her little girl, (instead of worrying about a man), her daughter might have been safer."

"I can't understand anyone who owns one of these snakes!!!!! That poor baby lost her life - the father should be held accountable!!!!!! I would be held accountable if one or both of my Rottweilers killed a child - I see no difference with the type of pet he has - I hope he is charged with Reckless Manslaughter."

But to be fair I know Ms. Tanner she was quoting another poster. Under that paragraph she defends snakes and their needs to be here.
I had to stop reading when posters were saying Floridians are trailer trash popping out babies. The one who stated there were people all over the world who wanted kids and couldn't have them, yet we have no self control and shouldn't have any.

Sad, just sad. All around this incident is going to make mega headlines. So it looks like it was "pet" and it got out of its house during the night and strangled the little girl. Even reading the report I found one big error in how to deal with a snake attached to someone. I could go on and on. :angry01:
I know it is not just in the reptile pet industry but in the dogs' and cats' as well. There is misinformation out there on snakes but there is also so much proper information and it is easy to get one's hands on. Why do we continuously see stories like this in the news? A dog did this, a snake did that. If we want to continue to have the freedom to pick your own pet, then we need to get educated and be responsible people!
I know this is not the place nor the time to go off, but I am saddened and sick over stories like this; along with the animal cruelty stories. Humans are better than this!

I agree with you. It is very sad. We need to be responsible and unfortunately there are so many people that aren't and will never be.
I wish I could agree that humans are better than this. I just don't think we are or can be.

I refuse to associate myself with the human race.. I disown these evil creatures... All of us herpers and animal lovers are a totally different breed than the mass majority of the human population. This is horrible, and the comment about single mothers and providing a "safe" environment for their child really busts my (non existant balls) as a single parent I can't believe we went from negligent (albiet likely an accidental) escape of a pet, who did what it does naturally, to how people just don't know how to raise their kids.
It was a tradgedy and those people will blame themselves for the rest of their lives for that snake getting out, but damn people, get rid of snakes off the whole planet? Are people really this bleeping ignorant that they believe entire kinds of animals being eliminated would help ANY of us survive? Getting rid of snakes would plunge us all into ecological chaos.

"Anyone that has a snake as pet should be executed, this little girl died a senseless death. This mother is just as guilty she knew a snake was in the house. I hope justice will be seeked for this little girls death, this was murder. No mercy for the mother or the boyfriend. Just sad for this little girl lost her life and taken away. Any pet store selling snakes should be prosecuted as well if that is where the snake came from."
I guess I will be going to jail folks! I have over 200 snakes and lizards and 2 Pitbulls and 5 children! I am such an aweful person, please, someone save me........................
