Can baby corns eat lizards?

I have recently aquired a baby snow corn and am wondering if it would be a bad idea to feed it a inmature anole lizard. I'm not quite sure of the exact age of the snake, but she is 16 inches in length, a healthy eater, and is rapidly growing. I wanted my snake to learn to constrict and consume live prey, but I figured that might be safer learned with a relatively harmless anole than a small mouse. Is it appropriate to go ahead and try? Or, should I feed her pinkies as long as possible?

The only way I'd feed a lizard to a snake is if it had refused all other food offered, and it would be frozen first to kill any parasites. I have gotten stubborn baby corns to eat baby bluebelly lizards this way. But I don't let anything that will take mice even smell a lizard, once they taste lizard they might not go for mice anymore. I think constricting is instinctive, snakes don't need to learn it. Why do you want your snake to eat live prey? Have you tried frozen/thawed? If she's taking f/t pinkies she will probably take bigger sizes f/t as well, or you can just stun/prekill fresh mice, a lot of people do that too.

You say your snake is a healthy eater. So what are you feeding it now! Pinkys? If so, just keep on feeding it that. Anole are usually only use for scenting. With problems feeders.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

100% agree with the above posts. There is no reason to feed live, is it for your own enjoyment? Adult mice can, believe it or not, kill an adult snake, and as mentioned you might find it very difficult to switch back to frozen/thawed after feeding live mice or anoles. Who wants to deal with that?

Anyhoo, you may find like a lot of us that your snake constricts when moved up to larger mice. Scared the hell out of me first time

I think anyone who dosent beleive the whole live prey can hurt your snake thing should see the petstore I go to's burm. That poor thing has scars scratches everything! It even has a bite on it im guessing from itself! I'm assuming it went to strike for a rabbit and ended up nipping its self. Its completely beat up and its no fair because its SUCH a beautiful burm! :[ Also live mice can carry parasites and such freezing kills. Some snakes even constrict f/t prey but its not usually corns the snakes with stronger feeding responces will (such as burms and retics but I would not sugguest you get one expecially if this small corn is your only snake/experience lol)

as i had said previously... this is my first pet snake, and i had done some research and couldn't find anything that had stated the information that you all had given me. there is no need for the aggressive nature of all of your comments. i haven't fed it a lizard and the reason why i asked is because one site had said that lizards are a favorite food of the snake. this is why i asked about it. i also was unaware that there was frozen lizards and had figured that catching live prey might be healthier for them. i am sorry that i didn't do enoguh research to ask a question about how to better take care of my snake in this in this forum.

I can deffitnally say I have learned so much from the people on this website. I could research snakes forever and still not know some of the stuff I have learned from these people

I was actually curious to read this didnt even know that corns liked lizards ..you learn something new everyday

Both of my older snakes once they hit the hopper stage the both started to constrict their F/t food..and like someone else mentioned earlier it scared us as well the first time as I try to get all my snakes pretty quickly used to eating from our hand..so there I am holding a mouse just waiting for the snake to latch on and WHOMP and WHOSH in a ball he went..I actually look forward to my new babies getting to that stage..so much easier then the dangling hoping they eat stage

my corn eating lizards for about 3weeks, but after that i stop to giving it lizard and start to give it pinkies,,

the reason at that time is, there is no pinkies available here

Ok, well, the Answer is yes. However the Lizard shouldn't be a wild Lizard, and it Should be dead. Dead Because Lizards can bite Hard, as I know catching Lizards in Florida. And not wild because the Lizard is likely to have Bacteria, Parasites, and Many more Living organizims that could harm your Corn Snake. If an adult Lizard bites a baby cornsnake in the Eye, The Corn Snake can easly lose it. However feeding an Adult Corn Snake an Adult Lizard of Resonable size, pose's no threat to an Adult Corn Snake.

Hi There
Heres my experience with corns and lizards. I had a hatchling which would'nt
eat so I fed her Lizards. Big Mistake, once she was eating well I decided to switch her to Mice. No Go, it took almost a year to get her onto mice, I ended up having to scent mice with lizards etc.
There are also times when it is almost impossible to find lizards.
I also think that nutritional value of lizards is not on a par with mice.

lizards are the normal pray of baby corns in the wild. Dont feed them to CB snakes cause they can get parsites. The only time is when you have a baby snake that wont eat as in the case with rolandslf. He had to deal with lizard sent to get the snake to eat. that is the only time you use lizards in feeding snakes.

You also don't want to get your snake addicted to a food that you can't supply year round. I was just reading about Bob, a bearded dragon, who became addicted to wild-caught grasshoppers. The owner caught as many as he could i the fall, but they were gone in less than a month and then there were no more. Bob never switched back to crickets or anything else, and starved.
