Poofy-Headed Snake-Addict
So I had all the snakes out today to show the daycare kids and their parents. Most of the parents werent too interested, but the kids love the snakes. :D The parents dont seem to mind their kids playing with the creepy crawlies, but wont touch them at all.

I took the opportunity to half convince two kids' parents about how easy it is to keep a cornsnake, and how gentle they can be. I put the fatty, the biggest, most impressive snake, around some of the kids' necks to show this, and the kids were just thrilled. And of course, everybody had to use hand sanitizer after handling the snakes. But I got a couple nice photos of three of the kids holding Chester.

The kids are Konnor, Abbie, and Paige.

I'm sorry... I think Chester is AWESOME... but putting him on stage with the kids... he gets lost in their beauty!!! ;)

All the kids look fabulous. I love how they don't appear afraid of him AT ALL.

lol, really only one of the kids was afraid, and he's a 1st grade boy. everyone else just adores the snakes, I had a full crowd while I had all three corns out. :p even the smallest kids arent afraid, and we have a couple around 1 yr old. just goes to show, being afraid of legless slitheries is a learned thing, not instinct!

What a great intro to the love of corns! Even if those kids never keep them, more people liking snakes is a good thing!

LOL!!! Don't you just love the way Abbie poses for the camera...? She's like a pro! :D
Guess who's gonna be THE america's next top model?? ;)

LOL

Cute snake by the way. And I think it's good to show different kinds of animals to kids, teach them how to handle different animals and how to take care of them. That animals are not toys etc. Good work.

lol thanks everyone!! (and yes.... Chester is a -bit- chubby..) I think I have at least one parent considering getting a snake, and a couple others are in that sort of "talk to your mother/father" stage. :p

teaching them how to handle the snakes wasnt too hard, really... other than one kid who kept trying to grab Chester's tongue... needless to say, he had to go sit on the other side of the room for a while... while everyone ELSE was still playing with the snakes. and the parents were impressed with their kids' fearlessness in holding the little fatty. :D

overall, a pretty good day, and actually fun.
