Christmas/ Holiday Viv Decorating Contest w/ PRIZE!

This morning I woke up early. While Tara was snoozing, I finished hanging the fur kids stockings on the banister, and then decided to decorate Tank the beardie's cage, since he is in the living room.

I thought it would be fun to do a herp vivarium decorating contest.

The prize is an 09 female sulfur (butter blood) bred by Walter Smith and donated by Jen Pagram of Ghost House Corns. Winner pays shipping.

RULES
1. Entries must be of reptile or amphibian (herp) vivariums.

2. Vivariums can be of any size or shape.

3. Please provide a photo of the entire, full tank set up. You may provide detail shots, too, but I will only be adding one photo per entry to the final thread for voting.

4. Entries must show reptiles IN their vivariums (i.e. no shots of snakes on Christmas trees or wreaths)

5. Final Voting: I will collect all the entries from here on December 22nd, at 10 PM EST, and then post them under one thread with a poll where we can all vote until around 10 PM on the 24th. I'll announce the winner Christmas morning, EST.

6. Prize issues: Shipping will be arranged by Jen Pagram and Contest Winner. If for any reason the Contest Winner cannot accept the snake for delivery, it will be up to Jen Pagram to either A) offer the snake to the 2nd place winner, or B) keep the snake for herself for a future "rainy day." ;)

7. Contest open to US residents only to simplify shipping.

Sound good? Bring on your entries! :)

I'll donate a prize
I've been waiting for someone to run a contest to do this but there wasn't a fall one. I have an 09 female sulfur (butter blood) from Walter Smith that doesn't fit in my breeding plans. I acquired her as a non feeder, however she has never refused a meal for me here. Winner pays shipping.
Worth playing for?

Definitely!! I am going to remove us from the contest since I will be running it!

Come on, folks, get decorating!

I won't be entering it myself either but hopefully lots of people will. It will be fun to see what kind of creative stuff people do to dress up their vivs!

Oo, yay! This does sound like fun! And that's awesome that you'd contribute a nice Sulfur as a prize, Jen! Very gracious! :}

This sounds like fun... and I think my little sulphur boy needs a future mate! Does it have to be a corn snake viv? I think my big boa viv would be more fun to decorate. Is that okay?

I am so bummed....I donated my 20g long to the Salvation Army 2 weeks ago...I had had it for a long time but switched everybody over to tubs.

Tubs do not decorate well at all.......
I could have done a fantastic job with that 20g....

This sounds like SO much fun, not even for the sake of the prize either (which is quite a fantastic one I might add). A holiday tank decorating ceremony will commence this week :). I am actually very excited to do this, because I'm still very much into the holiday spirit, and what better way to start than with my wonderful reptile family.

I'm thinking of some grand ideas... hmm???

My Christmas viv is all done now. I just haven't had enough time to take any pictures, since I am in the middle of a three-day stretch of 12-hour night shifts at the hospital where I work. Hopefully I will be able to get some pictures taken and posted sometime tomorrow. It was a fun little project, and now I'm thinking I might even decorate a few more of my vivs!

I am just wondering what the Salvation Army does with a 20 long aquarium....?

the Salvation Army takes just about anything. (there was once a big news story when the Clinton's donated some used underwear to them). I don't even take a tax deduction for anything I give them, I just had to get some things out of the house. I need the space for more snakes........
