Confession...hi, my name is Christina & I am...

Twang'em into trees!
...ack! Becoming an eBay-aholic! :p

I never really play on eBay at any other time of the year, unless I think to get something out of the blue (like a nice digital scale for the reptiles in Oct!), but now -- with my winter break, I have so much time on my hands, and believe me: I'm loving it, but it's definitely making the urge to play on eBay ridiculously strong. :p

However, while confessing is good & all, I'm mostly just wanting to gloat about my outrageous win from last night. ;) I found this ring that is the exact setting that I'd want for an engagement ring (and the boyfriend really likes it, too), and I could find only one in my size. Now, while I could have another ring resized, I never really liked the look of resized rings, so I really wanted my exact size. I found it -- I bid on it...and it went for $61 & the bidding went until the last second, with me not declared the winner. :awcrap: I didn't really want to spend that much either, but...*oh, well*. Then, shortly after that auction -- I found one more! So, I kept my eye on it...and, well, it became mine last night for $10.50!!! Ha, ha! I feel like emailing the guy who got it for $61 & doing a bit of bragging...:nyah:

I'm just thrilled -- and mostly, I'm buying a lot of gifts for people -- and a couple for myself...I think that I've spent a grand total of $70 on 7 pieces of silver jewelry, which I love, and I think that the cost hasn't been that bad, considering it includes shipping...and now I have lots of bday gifts all ready to go for 2008! :)

So, I'm proud to be an eBay-aholic...(and, I currently have 5 auctions that I'm watching, and yes, I am getting up out of my computer chair to also have a life outside!)...but, once those 5 are over, it's kaput for me. :)

Thanks! :)

I adore ebay... the best thing I ever bought was my sigma macro lens - mint condition for £170... they retail at £300+ new.

I also love buying stupidly overpriced rare CD's that no one has ever really heard of... oh and film soundtracks. Thats a bit of an additiction.

I went through a very bad eBay-oholic stage. It started with pigeon oil paintings. I have lots of Dooney & Burke purses I never use! It's a good place for used books. Italian charms. Birkenstocks. My laptop came from eBay. Some cycling clothes. Tons of DVDs. I got tired of auctions, though, and now just mainly Buy It Now. eBay has good deals on herp supplies like Reptisun 10 lights, Coralife Power Centers, any UTH you can imagine. Probiotics.

ebay is overwhelming. I go through phases with it, I'm into it for a few months and then I'm not... Have you tried to sell anything yet? That's the hard part...

I sold on e-bay for awhile a few years ago. I used to pick up clothes real cheap from the thrift store and sell for more on e-bay. Didn't get rich, but made a little extra for the family.

I will admit that I go through Ebay cycles too. Previously I had bought both of my 35mm cameras there and this past year I also bought my Canon DSLR on Ebay.
Some days I like to just browse around to see what kind of crazy stuff people are selling and to see if anyone is selling stuff that is similar to what I own and how much they are getting for it!

I haven't sold anything yet on eBay, and most likely never will. I'm just too lazy for that to keep up with it. :p I guess that I still have a bit of that old-fashioned mind-set to be incredibly distrustful of anyone selling anything: am I getting the run around? And, with it being the internet and not in person, I'm even more skeptical. A lot of accountability has come into it since its inception, I understand, but I still worry about being the one who is cr*pped on...:p

On the other hand, in my limited eBay experience, I've only had one negative experience -- the rest have been fine, and I've come away with some nice belly dance costume pieces, and some really beautiful jewelry. I still feel funny admitting that I "bought it on eBay" but -- I could lie about it, too. :p Oh, well...I still got that ring -- identical to this one! -- for only $10.50 (the other schmo got it for $61, and the previous auction got it for $40!)...I'm pretty pleased with myself. :)

Congrats to everyone else on their excellent sales & purchases!

Hey that was a nice ring... I'm assuming you're getting the rocks from your ring put in that setting and getting rid of the 'briolite'? ;)
I have bought books, video games, and cd's on ebay, and also have sold a couple of garage sale finds, but man it seems hard to get people bidding on your stuff when you have low rep number there. Guess I just need to buy a bunch more stuff and build my numbers up or something.
What kind of stuff have you sold, Elle? (and anyone else)

Oh, yup...see, I've loved that exact setting for years, and I bought an amethyst ring near Harvard Square (at "the Garage" after getting my tragus pierced, as a congratulations-to-me present for getting accepted to grad school...;) ) so that I could remember it, but the center amethyst is emerald-cut...and, when I saw this one on eBay, I was thrilled! I love sterling silver as is -- I don't want or need platinum or white gold, as I'm terrible with banging my jewelry around. :p The plan is to replace the princess-cut stone with a sapphire (my birthstone, and I adore it...) and then the trillion-cut stones with diamonds, eventually. I'm so lazy about it, though, that even if it takes a lifetime, I don't care. :) I just think that it's pretty, and it will be mine, and that's all that counts to me. ;)

Thanks!

PS...This is my 900th post, by the way...holy schnikeys! I was just at 800 when my winter break started...I wonder if I'll hit 1000 before my winter break is over...:p Woo-hoo!
