Corn Isle dwarf boas...

Tula_Montage

It's Jager time!
... My favourite boa locale in the world. I have another female to come, she was the breeders holdback so shes bound to be amazing. I pick her up in a couple of weeks :) I still can't quite believe we have a pair nevermind making it a trio.

For now, heres Beaux, he shed last night and was in light phase. I adore the olive green colouration these boas have. Hes my favorite of the pair, it's not hard to see why.

Clementine, the female. She wasn't in the mood for photos and was in dark phase looking a bit sorry for herself - as always. I can never seem to get decent photographs of her :(

Wow, that first picture is one of the clearest and nicest I have ever seen. Beaux is a beautiful snake and a perfect one for you to photograph!

How big is she and how big is that mirror? Her whole body is on it so I was wondering if it was really big.

Thanks Dave. The first shot could have been lighter if I lowered the aperture but I didn't want to do that.

Beaux is a boy :p and he is currently 3ft, 320 grams at 11 months old. The mirror is huge, hes not sitting on all of it, I just cropped the picture LOL

Ohh ok. I love mirror shots...I could try that with Darwin because I have a small mirror that should work nicely.

The mirror I used is 3 x 2... I just lay it flat, shove the snake in a hide, lift it quickly and shoot continuously LOL

Wow. I don't think I've seen mine as light as Beaux is in those shots. He looks amazing. But I love Clementine in dark phase too. I can't wait to see the new female. I have a feeling that I may not be able to stop at two of these either... :)

I'm just so in love with Beaux I can never get enough of him.
But gasp? What's this! There's a hair on the mirror in the 6th shot, FOR SHAME ELLE!

Gorgeous! I love these snakes (so, it is always nice to see pics of them).:)

Thanks Deb :) I always think I take too many pictures of the boas LOL.

Well you have seen him in dark phase too, hes a total freak. I'm convinced he steals lumps of coal and eats them to become sooo black LOL.

I think I can stop at 1.2 - I may do something unthinkable... cornlivian boas anyone? Naturally hypomelanistics with huge red tails x peaky silver rich red tail wonderfulness? Could be interesting, although utter blasphemy.

I'm just so in love with Beaux I can never get enough of him.

Oh dear jeebus that fell from my shamefull eye!

I love dark Clementine the most. Can you do anything to influence the color? Like, when I get Isabel, the dragon, out, she's covered with black speckles, but after a nice warm bath, she's sunny yellow. Or the attack anoles out in the yard are bright green, but if you catch one it quickly turns scaredy cat brown.

I haven't read enough into what actually influences boa colour changes. I have noticed that when his body temperature is about 90F he will be very light, and when it is below 80 he will go almost jet black. But then I have seen him turn from olive green to dark brown in the space of 20 seconds when having his picture taken LOL

Aww I like Clementine in her dark phase. I can't believe that the pictures of Beaux in light phase are the same snake! WOW!

Can you believe this is Beaux in his darkest of dark phases? I couldn't when I saw him. He has never went that dark again.

Very beautiful! How big do these get? I only have corns and milks. But I find these a little more tempting every time I see one.

Corn isles max out at about 5-6ft. The mumma of Beaux was 5ft and the dad was 3.5ft. I can't remember how big Clementines mum was though... probably around the 5ft mark. They are a small insular boa that overall stay slimer and much smaller than mainland BCI's.
