I am a new member and am in a picle. My approximately 2 year old cornsnake has a destended/swollen area that is 1/3 of his length on his tail end. The swelling stops at his vent and his tail is the normal size. He just defecated and it really smells, which is not normal for him. He has been less active recently and has lost weight. He is drinking water (alot 2x per day). There are several other factors that need to be mentioned which may or may not be related:
1. I just drove cross country with him in a small cage and he appeared to fair the trip well until we got to New Orleans, where he got chilled (I do not know if that is related) .
2. He ate yesterday (force fed him 3 pinkys) and his abdomen was not swollen.
3. He has not been dropped.
4. He is in a new used cage (which I bleached and then washed very well to remove the bleach).
5. He is on grass from Petsmart that is the same brand I always use.
6. The water is harder in Panama City than in Seattle.
Please respond. He looks bad.
