DAYTONA 2011!!!

ArpeggioAngel

Around Here Somewhere....
So it is official - I received word back from our hotel, the Homewood Suites, that they are going to honor our rates from the last two years!!

Rates will be $79 for a standard suite, $89 for a one bedroom suite and $139 for a suite with two queen beds.

I am going to request our room block be available for one thursday thru the following tuesday for anyone who wants/needs to come in early or stay late in Daytona.

Anyone who would like me to get the rooms booked for them - please contact me via PM.

I'll want the one bedroom suite like last year, for me and Carol, Thursday- Monday, possibly Tuesday. I have the whole week before and after off. But I can't leave my babies for very long!! Last year wasn't that bad because i just brought them all with. I don't think I'll be doing that with six clutches...

Great job Katie!!! Hopefully my schedule will allow me to come. Whether I have snakes or not will depend on the next couple of months.

Ooohhh Daytona!!

I want to go. Now just have to convince all my reptile-phobic friends to come. ... how far is the beach?? :p

Five miles or so?? From the convention center, it's right across the street.

Ohh excellent ... That might give me some leverage in convincing someone to come

I dragged my sister to the last White Plains show and I think a roomful of snakes scared her from expos for life :p

I don't know yet. Money situation is not yet resolved. I'll be quitting my job around that time...so time is not a problem, just money. I'm going to try, but what is roughly the latest you need to know by.

Honestly - we can hold a room for you and if you can't make it you can cancel up to one day in advance with no penalty.
Josh is looking for a roomie - maybe that could help out financially?

Everyone ok with doing Uno's again to cater our dinner again?

And of course - I will be looking for donations for our raffle again!

You know I'll be attending Daytona, but I'm not sure about the hotel. I like my little cheap hole in the wall room within walking distance of the Ocean Center. It's not classy, but saves me enough money to buy more snakes! Will the dinner be the same as last year? I hope so as it worked out perfectly!

I don't know if I'll have the children again. They really irked me last year at the Expo. But if hubby wants and is able to go, he probably won't be happy in the really cheap hotel and might opt for the Homewood Suites (he does love being on the ocean, however). What is the difference between the standard suite and the one bedroom suite?

And you can count on me for donations again! We'll just have to wait and see what I have available when the time comes.

I am trying my hardest to make it to Daytona this year. I think it would be a great vacation for me and my daughter. Even if we fly in on Thursday and catch a later flight out Sunday evening. Expo, meet friends, sun, beach, and fun.....Oh yeah that's just what the doctor ordered! And save enough to bring a little something home! My daughter doesn't mind expos and she loves the beach!

Susan, how much are the rooms where you stay?

How much are the catered dinners? Just trying to figure out some of the expenses to make sure I can swing it.

I'll be looking for roomies also.

The plan is stay Friday night and Saturday night, leave sometime on Sunday.

If anyone has spare floor space let me know.

Well, I'm tentatively (tentatively) thinking I should be able to make it. I have enough saved up right now to very easily pay for the room, or probably easily pay for the flight, but not necessarily both...depends on how cheap a flight I can get. It would be cheaper if I could fly out of Milwaukee, but I'll probably go from the local airport here in Appleton. However, I have some things I am selling, and a few months to save yet, so I'm thinking I should be okay (though my pocketbook will be hurting afterwards). I'm putting myself on major budget restraint. Will just keep reminding myself "would I rather have X, or go to Daytona"...Daytona wins.

I am planning on getting there Thursday morning-ish/noon or whenever, and staying until probably Monday or whenever (because I will have most likely quit my job at this time)

Is anyone running the 'shuttle' from ORL airport? Would that be the cheapest one to fly in to? I'll probably fly in to ORL or wherever, though maybe fly back from Daytona if it is easier.

I'm up for a roomie, anything to make it cheaper.

The room has ranged from $57-69/night, which, for being on the beach isn't bad. I like being within walking distance of the expo as I can come and go as I please and not have to worry about paying for parking multiple times (which I hate anyway). The hotel isn't the best and gets mixed reviews, but all I need is a bed, a TV and a bathroom to be satisfied.

If I recall, the dinner costs around $18/person. And don't forget to bring enough money for the raffle!
