Does your Snake have any weird habits?

So, My snake thinks he is arboreal. He loves to climb the little branches that are in his tank. He also does not use his half toilet paper roll hides. He hates them! My husband stuck a whole roll in there, and guess where my snake goes!!! In the toilet paper roll. He has been in there for the past day. What a weirdo!
I would love to hear your snake's weiiiird habits.

i use paper towel rolls as well...whole. i like to squish them so as to make an oval shape...making a tighter fit for smaller snakes

My corn snake Foamy tends to let me know he is frustrated when he cant escape by letting out a huge sigh or frustrated huff.
Alex who is still just a lil baby, has no sense of self preservation and if my cat walks up to me while im holding alex she will go over and do the little nose lick thing as if she is saying hello. Luckly my cat is very calm around the snakes and knows to look and not touch.

Max my boyfriends ball python has some really weird quirks though. Shes taken to making a squeak noise to get his attention when she wants out and also likes to dunk her head under water in her bowl and blow bubbles!

When ever im wearing a button up shirt, Barthi likes to go inside the shirt pocket and watch tv with me on the couch. Its pretty funny how he only sticks his head out.

My BP Lucy loves to knock down the background of her viv (its the exo terra style, with the textured styrofoam background) and hide behind it. :)

I love this! That is hilarious!

Ray likes to do that too. Only he doesn't knock it over, he just gets back there and hides. The first time it happened, I had left instructions for hubby to feed him and then left for work. I get a phone call at work a little while later asking where the snake is. I knew I saw him in the tank that morning, so I said, well, dig around, he's probably just buried. But, nope, he was behind the background.

Hubby got the idea of turning the background around so the 2 notches were at the top instead of the bottom and that worked for a little while until Ray figured it out. LOL

My two are fairly average so far - although the female, claudia, does have a thing for glasses and ponytails - they're her favourite places to curl up and hide when shes being handled - which I found out the first day I had her...

Shes also not a fan of Bach choral music - I dont know why but certain vocal pieces drive her mad - I think there must be some frequency she dislikes in certain bits of music although shes perfectly ok when someone is talking to her or theres people talking on TV and with other music - just not Bach...

The boy, Bubbles (yes I know), he's alot quieter but I think he is going to be the bigger of the two. He's in blue at the moment and its a little upsetting when you watch him and he's literally feeling his way with his snout, I suppose I will get used to it in the fullness of time... my eyesight is bad at the best of times but I dont think i would like being totally blind once every month or so for a few days.. another thing I noticed is that the day before his eyes started going blue - his skin went from smooth to feeling tacky - another way to tell when a snake is going to shed?

oh, a quick question - mine are babies and every time I saw their tongues flick out at first they made a tiny clicking noise.. has anyone else noticed this? It seems to have gone away now - any suggestions as to why? I do know its not respiratory because it was every single time they flicked their tongues and didnt bear relation to their breathing.

It's been my experience that clicking usually is early signs of an URI but i do have one Opal that dislocates her jaw over and over again when she gets stressed, which also makes a clicking noise. It is the only snake I have ever seen do this, and I have had snakes for most of my life. She tolerates people & doesn't mind being held or handled but when she sees another snake she immediately starts practicing this horrible habit.

My Spitz likes noses :3 Mine, my friends', or my parents', he loves to head in that direction. He also doesn't like the word "rest", and will be up and moving about his viv less than 10 minutes after eating.

Aris, on the other hand, loves sleeves. Short, long, tight, or loose, he's determined to find his way in. Also, he will stretch and stretch off of a hand until he almost falls, even when there's nothing for him to reach for... His favorite thing to "reach" for is the ceiling fan, a good 2 and a half feet up, when he's barely over a foot long.

They both do it - and i would worry but its every time they flick their tongue you hear a tiny little click - if it was any other time or with the rhythm of their breathing I would be alot more bothered, but its just when they taste the air. I'll keep an eye on them though, but they've done it since I got them so I dont think its anything to worry about.

My bloodred hatchling, Bear Claw, always lets me know when it's feeding day because on feeding day he climbs to the top of his tank and wedges himself between the lip of the tank and the screen. Every time I see him doing this I check the calendar and sure enough, it's been 5 days since his last pink... lol

Mine loves to go down my shirt and explore or just sit there and be warm. It's just so cute i let him do it. I love when he pokes his head out just to see if i'm still there lol.

i just got my snow corn snake she`s always triing to hide is that normal she is a year and a half i got her from a pet store i heard they hide when getting ready for a shed is there anything i can do to help her i got shedding stuff for her today to make sure her skin stays healthy and what not i think her eyes are getting cloudy does it just happen or does it go in steps? and how long is a shed process?

It is normal for snakes to hide. You should have a few different hides in the tank, one on the warm end, one on the cool and one in the middle. Corn snakes are nocturnal so they hide most of the day and also because the snake is in a new environment it will hide and occasionally peek out to explore until it is used to its new home.

My amel hatchling corn Wishbone is a sweetie but she does have one bad habit. When she sheds, she completely redesigns her tank! Its like a teen-ager having a temper tantrum. Ever heard someone say, "It looks like a bomb went off in here!" of a messy room? That's Wishbone! The vine is ripped off the wall of the tank, her 2 paper towel roll hides literally look like someone tossed them in the air and her water bowl is spilled. The only thing she can't move is her rock because its so much bigger than her. ( I usually keep a natural smooth rock like a goose-egg landscaping stone for my snakes to use when they're shedding. ) She can't budge that!

Nimue our anery vanishing stripe hates having her tank cleaned. She'll nose bump my hand. When I change out the water, she likes to slither up my arm and play bracelet.

Ariadne does not like to poop in her viv. I know young snakes tend to musk because they are nervous, but somehow I don't think that is the case with her. I swear she has figured this all out on her own. Why should she sully her beautiful enclosure when she knows she's going to be taken out for a few minutes almost every night and she can poop on a human instead? I am convinced she is like a dog and equates going out for a "walk" with pooping. She especially likes to poop on things she shouldn't, like clothing and bed sheets that have just been washed.
