Don't cry for the mice!

HFG-You might want to take a refresher course in manners and respect. You had no reason to 'defend yourself', you could have just continued in a civil discussion. Instead you chose to make this something personal. Your personal attacks and name calling will not get you very far here, or anywhere else for that matter. One of the things that makes this such a good forum is the respect we have for others in the community. You are entitled to your opinion, but remember to have some tact.

You need to tell that to MISTI and others who started that, not me!!!!!

There are pros and cons to feeding live or prekilled. You can't say one is better then the other because it depends on experience, circumstance and sometimes it's just up to the snake.

Prekilling or feeding live (your still killing the mouse, but now the snake is the tool) is required for you to feed your snake.

The point of this topic is actually more about moral obligation.

I am a human being. I can think and reason. I know right from wrong, thus I have a moral obligation to treat life with respect. This means if I need to dispatch a rodent, then I have a moral obligation to do it as quickly and painlessly as possible. Do I feel bad? Sure. A little, but I deal with it. It's a necessary evil that I must do in order to fill my obligation to my snakes.

There are those who have looser morals. There are even some with no morals. This thread quickly indicates which direction everyones moral compass points.

On a side note: horned_frog_guy joined the forum and started a moral debate. Sounds a bit like baiting to me. The fact that he blatantly lied (He claimed freezing was easiest for him -versus- He claims he has never froze a mouse) just makes him and his posts even more suspicious.

LEARN TO READ...I said I never froze an adult mouse.

I read very well, thank you.

Let me quote you:

10-07-2005, 01:07 PM
"For me, the easiest, most economically way to off a mouse is to freeze it."

10-07-2005, 02:41 PM
"nor have I ever frozen any mouse to death."

ANY MOUSE!

My my my...see what being persnickety gets you?

But I do have to show you some gratitude...thank you for 'plugging' my site better than I never tried to do.

All this talk about "humanely" killing a mouse baffles me - notice the root word here (human). Mice are rodents; its that simple. Don't feel bad for them. Its a food chain; animals die all the time so that another animal can eat. You don't see antelope being "gassed" just before a lion eats it. And what about wild mice; they dont get killed nicely before a snake eats them

Having the ability to be empathetic to the feelings of all life is just one of many things that separate man from animals, but it's your choice who's team you want to play for...need a banana, Chim Chim?

I told their mom in PM about this thread and warned her, so they won't be reading it. I like them a lot, a great bunch of kids, and I didn't want them to be subjected to this crap.

Ohh, but you didn't warn me? I don't think I wanted to be subjected to this crap either. :p
