Thats cool it must be a old snake I didnt even think they get that big!
Any skin penetration, however, is a medical emergency that requires immediate attention. Coral snakes have a powerful neurotoxin that paralyzes the breathing muscles; mechanical or artificial respiration, along with large doses of antivenom, are often required to save a victim's life. There is usually only mild pain associated with a bite, but breathing difficulties and ptosis can occur within hours.
Mannnn..... That's just dangerous. Holy cow... KIDS played with it?????I have another coral snake story. I asked my vet if he ever treated any venomous patients. He said he did, if he knew the owner very well and was confident he could see the animal without an incident. But one time a man came in so my vet could see his kingsnake. He got it out and the vet says "Do you know that's a coral snake?" The man said "Oh no, this is a scarlet kingsnake, we've had it for years, my kids play with it all the time!" "So then what happened, Dr. Pat?" "I don't know, he never brought the snake back!" I wonder...
No, my vet's a snake man.
Nice coral. I hope to get one of those for my educational collection but it is hard to find them big enough to do the covert to mouse thing as well as being big enough so when I hook it the people watching the presentation can actually see it. That one might have done! Catch another, let me know.![]()
