England vs. USA

Hey everyone.

Earlier this evening at 8:00PM GMT, England played the USA in an international friendly (football/soccer).

The score was 2 - 0 to England, with John Terry and Steven Gerrard on the score sheet.

Just to let those people who didn't/couldn't watch the game know.

Better luck next time eh? :grin01:

All the best

David

the yanks dont like socca

Incorrect statement ... some of us yanks do like soccer.

Myself ... I played on a team, in my younger days, and was brought up with soccer.

Must admit, though, that I do not follow too many sports (U.S. or otherwise)... especially these days.
I've always been more of a person who prefers playing, rather than watching, anyway.

nah i know some do,but when its below tractor pulling then its not all that high in the list.. not sure if thats true, but i read it somewhere lol

LOL Tractor Pulling is not high on my list ... it doesn't even make it on my list.:grin01: Give me soccer, over tractor pulling, any day.
However, you're right, it's popular amongst some Americans.

Soccer is a real sport? And tractior pulling isn't ... Dayum what was I thinking all these years.. *LOL* j/k.. I just don't get into sports at all anymore.. Now gimme a slab of ice and a stick, I might be intrested.. Of course I would worry that a hockey game would break out, and my beer would be wasted on some silly game..

Regards.. Tim of T and J

You hit the nail on the head. Very few athletes growing up in USA pick soccer as their sport. Football (US version), basketball, baseball, golf, boxing, tennis, hockey, etc, etc all probably rank higher. Though soccer is catching on more I don't see it ever reaching the level it enjoys in England.

For the U.S, as a whole, I agree.

You can't hurt me, I live in Cleveland, Ohio. Heck, I've coined the phrase, "wait till next year". Our sports teams don't loose in 'friendly' games, we loose in critical play-off games.:nyah:

Aha! But at least we're loyal to our teams! During the whole Browns going to MD debacle of the 90's, I totally boycotted American football until we got an expansion team. During that time I watched and attended a LOT of soccer games. I really got into it and realized what an incredibly physical game it really is. Unlike football, with all the TOs, TVTOs, penalty delays, etc....soccer players just run and run and run..it's a great game. From what I see of the youth sports at the moment, soccer is going to give football a run for its money in the not too distant future. That is, of course, if the $ is there.

In England and America, we kick ball.

In Soviet Russia, ball kicks you!

What a country!

(For the life of me, I'll never understand how that talentless hack made a living.....to each his own, I guess.)

Not just England, the rest of the worlds mad for it too! :grin01:

football is the biggest sport in the world by a long way. once the states catch on properly they will win the wolrd cup for sure.
i call it football here as it was football long before NFL was created, and its 50 times bigger world wide, so for me its always football and NFL.. i just cant say soccer, sounds like another game lol
