Ernie Caldwell Diaries.....

I didn't see anything today.....

I got two calls, one a snake, one a turtle. Both were gone by the time I arrived.
I couldn't find a home for this beauty so today I turned her loose. This is one of the largest Ribbon snakes I've ever seen....

This little Ribbon was a beaut......

I apologize for not having good pics of the last snake. I'm very upset about that cause it s another very rare find in Florida these days...a Swamp Snake. Not getting much over a foot on average this guy has the Ringneck defense. Check out his belly......

Swamp snake, good one! Some of our darker colored red belly snakes look like that, but they're storeria.
That place where you're working is great! I love finding herps at work.

Why did the turkey cross the road?

to teach the youngins how to jump a curb. It was a twenty minute process but they learned.....

Check out this YR.....

You can see in the close up his eye is not what it should be. You may notice when I'm holding him is head is straight down. He never lifted it. When I released him however he moved off normally. Gotta wonder....

Cruisin down the access road....

to pond 600 I spied some tracks. Then of course found the daily racer. Leaving the site headed to lunch I found a little racer on the new and very hot asphalt. When I stopped he craled over to me, looking to get under the truck really, I stepped on him and crawled up my pant leg.
