???? evidence ????

I taped my newspaper down because it was driving me crazy not seeing what they were doing (nothing!)

oh my god nanci i know! it was driving me crazy!!!!! plus they kept scrunching it all up all over the place and it was really noisy as i was trying to sleep! lol

i think il tape it down next time.

will i be fine to put them back together tonight do ya think?

All mine did was fall asleep together, curled up under the newspaper. One of my snake advisers told me he taped it down so he could see what they were doing. I _wish_ they were so active they could keep me awake!

Careful with the tape, make sure it's the cheap stuff that won't get too terribly caught in their scales if they manage to get under it.

I've heard people say that you put them together for one night, separate for 3 nights, then back together for one night, and then repeat until you see an egg-heavy mama.

i know it was hard to get a good picture of it because of the flash. i also thought that it might be uriates but it was just the smell of it...i dunno, not like anything iv smelt before (not that i go around sniffing snake waste! haha).

my male is very eager! lol hes such a goon though, the amount of times hes tried to hook onto her face! its pitiful to watch!

will it be ok to put these two back in together tonight? or wait til tomorrow night?

Gawd you gave me such a laugh with this statement :crazy01:

Right, now to the point.

Don't worry about leaving them to settle in their own vivariums for some time prior to placing them back together for a second attempt.

As I say, it's still early days & most of my ladies are not 'in zee mood' either as they generally get their act together around mid-March/ April & May. So there's plenty of time yet.

Yup, sounds like your male is very eager, but, not yet experienced & the female knows it ;)

I would put them back together in 1 week. This will not only de-stress them but also give you a break too.

btw. Don't use tape in the enclosure. Use Paper towel for a substrate whilst they are 'pairing up' it is much less noisy!

Regards. Lex

I usually do 1 day together and at least two days off, but in this Situation Lexcorn's advice is what I would do!

I am not picking on anyone, but I am glad I am not the only one have the "no action" problem, with their snakes! I got mine up from brumation, she shed and is eating fine. He isn't eating or doing anything but pacing his tank. I know it's normal, but I am concerned. His last meal was in November.

So, I am waiting for her to shed again and I will try to put them together again. Just an idea for you, if the first attempt was a dud!

Good Luck

thank you to everyone for all the great advice!

honestly lex, he is an absolute joke i just feel like i want to pick him up and turn him around! lol Dezmond! WRONG END! haha
i feel so embarrassed for him, no wonder she doesnt want any yet! lol

thats a good tip about the paper towels, my snakes are in my room so as you could probably guess its a bit annoying when your trying to sleep! lol

and as hard as it is to wait, lol (excitement!) il wait at least 4-5 days before reintroducing them!
they are both off there food at the minute though as well, dizzles kind of strikes at the mice when i offer but its more like a GET OUT OF HERE strike with no constriction, no interest in eating!

If it makes you feel better, I'm having the same problem as well, females seem to be ready, at least they're doing that lil nasty dance they do, but the boys just want to be friends and cuddle for the moment... isn't that cute....grrrrrrrrr........
(ps they are being put together much earlier this year than usual....)

Ditto,

But the other way around, boys eager girls not so fussed.

I too have tried a little earlier in the year because of demand for hatchlings, with very little success.

You are familiar with the old saying "You can take a horse to water......" ;)

When all is said & done, it's the animals that decide when they are ready & we are to exhibit patience!

All the Best. Lex

WOW!

she is laying eggs right now!

il post another thread in a bit with pictures and stuff, dunno how this has happened but shes laying eggs!

O.K.

Two points here.

Have you owned this animal from a hatchling & has she been with another male in the previous year?

This is, of course, too fast a response from the pairing that you are trying so either she is depositing infertile eggs or there's the 'retained sperm' theory.

I will look out for your other thread.

Lex

no i havent owned her since a hatchling. I must have bought her now a good 7-8 months ago in order to breed.

by what i can see looks like shes laid about 8-9 eggs with maybe one or two more to come

I guess this would explain her reluctance to comply

Lex

i know it explains a lot!
shes off her food, a bit more aggressive, not wanting to mate and shes looked big for a while!

So is there any chance at all the eggs could be fertile? Do they look like that, or like slugs??

posting a new thread in a min with the pictures.......
Wow. Do you remember her being so big that you can easily see the skin between the scales on the lower third of her body? That's usually a very good tip off. please come back and post the link as well.
