Eyeless Bloodred het Hypo, Lavender

Thanks for all the comments guys. :)

I am very glad to hear and see that he is doing so well. He is a very interesting looking little guy. How is his temperment, is he still fairly mellow?
He's a little defensive when you first pick him up. He'll turn his head toward your fingers as if he's saying "what the heck is touching me" but he doesn't attempt to bite at all. Once he's in your hands he just cruises around flicking his tongue and checking everything out.

When I take Joe out of his container I usually just pick him up as soon as I open it. Since I was taking pictures I took out his water dish and let him explore his way to the top. It interesting to watch. I wish I had a video camera. He works his way to the top of the container but slower than a corn with eyes. He explores more side to side on his way to the top. I think he's doing this because he can't see the top is open.

Very cool snake Vinny! Put me on the waiting list when you breed one in every color!

Just kidding, lol. But very neat little guy, and glad he's doing well.

Oh my goodness look at the little guy, he's such a trooper.

I'm such a sad sap, i know not to force emotions on snakes but I just want to hug the little guy. We have a bird that has one eye, I once adopted a finch with one leg. Take in the hamsters that are about to be frog food, I'm such a sucker for miscreants.

Is it weird that I want him?

This is one awesome little dude, thx so much for posting and updating the tread. I will definitely be keeping track of Blind Joe...I too think he is a very nice looking snake, eyes or no.

Yup,

Having missed this Thread the 1st time around I reviewed with interest, but, considered the obvious would happen in the final pages.

So pleased that Blind Joe is still with us all.

Great news.

Regards. Lex

I had the same thought . . . the title caught my eye and I started reading the thread, noticing it started a year ago. I got sucked into the story and starting thinking "Oh, no, he's going to tell us he didn't make it!"

But . . . . Blind Joe LIVES! *LOL* That is awesome . . . what a cool story . . . my students would be fascinated by him. I'll have to show them the pics when we get to genetics and mutations :)

I think it is natural to feel for the under-dogs. You see his little eyeless face and just want him to beat the odds!

He looks cool....sad....but he is cool to look at...........
...and its weird at the same time................huh...

It's strange the pattern continues where the eye would be, wonder why that is? He looks great though, thanks for the update!

I think he is awesome!! My friends bf hatched out an eyeless burmese and it gorgeous, a great eater, and acts normally- very cool name btw:)

Thanks for the comments everyone! :)

I agree. I think it's amazing how the scales and pattern just continue right over the eye socket as if it was genetically designed that way. In his case I guess it was.

Now that's one snake I wouldn't want to be overly sensitive ,due to no sight, when touching it. Lol.

Oh man, what an interesting snake!

I'm so relieved that he ate, that was one of my biggest concerns. I hope he has no underlying issues that you can't see going on. My guess is that it's a genetic problem, just something that he inherited. It probably won't show up again for many generations, though.

At any rate, I wouldn't breed him (don't know if you where going to) and I'd be cautious about breeding the siblings too.

Definitely keep us updated on his behavior! Try and get a hold of a camera, I'd like to see how he moves. You also might want to go to a vet just to make sure there are no other problems.

I definitely have no intensions on breeding him.

I just got a new phone that takes videos. I'll give it a try. Now getting that video posted here is another story. Lol.

That would be really cool to see! I'll bet it would be interesting to see how he responds to touch etc. I'll bet his tongue goes a mile a minute!
