false shed?

My amel corn snake went into blue on friday, stayed in blue til sunday and then has not shed yet! I have been giving her a bath every day so she would shed in one peice but she is not shedding. How long can it take for them to shed after going out of blue? Is it possible for them to have a false shed?

They'll go back to their normal colour for a few days after being blue, then shed. Expect to see one soon. There's no need for baths unless there's been a problem beforehand.

I swear they just do it to stress us out... :)

It can take nearly two weeks for the whole process. I'd leave her alone and stop bathing her every day. If you feel her viv is too dry, maybe mist it lightly once every couple days. I generally only do this if the snake has a history of bad sheds. Soon she will become active and leave her hide, and look clear, as if she has shed. Once this happens, she should shed within a few hours to a couple days.

My snakes usually take 3 to 4 days after their eyes clear up for them to shed. Their eyes go cloudy for about 2 days, clear up, then shed. So your's should shed here in a bit. However I'm interested in knowing if there is such a thing as a false shed too. A few weeks ago my male phantom's eyes went cloudy for 2 days, so I started checking on him a couple times a day, but I never found his shed skin. *shrugs* So I guess it can happen?

Sorry for this thread it was pointless cause after i typed this thread up i checked and she shed! Haha my luck... Well the only reason why i do the bathing is cause she is quite large and sometimes has problems shedding. So i wanted to make sure it was not a problem this time. It was in two peices but hey its better than bits and peices! Thanks!

It would probably be more relaxing for her next time if you either made a moist hide for her, or if she won't use that, put a piece of plastic wrap over her screen (loosely) and then just mist every couple days.

If you don't want to mist, I put in an extra water dish partly over the UTH & then cover half the lid over the hot side. I do that every time mine go blue, just because there isn't much humidity here. I've only had one bad shed, but that was my female phantom when she shed the day after she got here from the breeder.

I have never had a shed issue with a corn snake before. All have bowls big enough to soak in if they want to. As mentioned above, they usually go back to their "normal" coloration before shedding. Some do it quicker than others. No need to worry.
